I *LOVE* fruitcake but can only have a small slice.

This is a bit odd — fruitcake ain’t that expensive and IMHO people want to have traditional things around when times are tough.

I am having a rough diverticulitis attack right now. Had to miss thanksgiving dinner, and am sipping fluids right now.

I LOVE fruitcake. People love to make jokes about it, but all that fruit and nuts and heavy sugar and liquor - What is not to like?

I love fruitcake too. However, I wish it had much less sugar because I am diabetic.

Huh? I'd say the one I made cost about $30 when you factor in the cherries, raisins, dates, candied pineapple, orange peel, lemon peel, walnuts, pecans, blackstrap molasses, eggs and various spices. Not to mention the brandy. Okay, make that $40. It'll be done incubating about Christmas Eve. Just leave out the citron. (that stuff makes fruitcake bitter)
