PETA Condemns Sarah Palin's Turkey Slaughter News Conference By Samantha Chang
The horrific video of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin blithely discussing her failed vice presidential bid as a live turkey is slaughtered behind her has ignited a media firestorm.
Palin, 44, was an unknown local politician until John McCain plucked her out of obscurity and chose her as his running mate on Aug. 29.
Since then, Palin has come under fire for her vast ignorance of current affairs, incoherent babblings to the press and her lavish $150,000 wardrobe, courtesy of the Republican National Committee. But her latest scandal takes the cake.
On Nov. 20, Palin appeared on local Alaska TV during an event to "pardon" a turkey from slaughter--a tradition lifted from the annual White House Thanksgiving ceremony. But after she saved one turkey from certain death, Palin, 44, proceeded to grant a lengthy interview as live turkeys were fed into a machine clearly pictured behind her that sliced off their heads and drained their blood.
When the reporter pointed out that the turkey-slaughtering machine might not be the best background for the interview, Palin said she didn't mind. "This was neat," Palin gushed. "I was happy to get to be invited to participate in this."
PETA, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, has condemned the horrific video and the gross mistreatment of our feathered friends.
In a statement, David W. Perle of PETA said:
Governor Palin has given Americans a view to a kill, showing that no matter where turkeys are killed, they fight for their lives and struggle in pain as their throats are slit and the blood drains from their bodies.
PETA released the findings from a two-month undercover investigation of turkey factory farms this week, and that video can be seen here.
Unless you fancy taking bites out of a live bird, your thanksgiving turkey requires killing. It boggles the mind that some folks have drifted so far away from the natural world that they can't stomach where their own food comes from.
Protein is good. My guess is it gives you greater critical thinking skills which keeps you from becoming a socialist. In fact Turkey is better for you than Chicken. You can't get all your amino's without meat.
To paraphrase Monty Python, I'll have yours.....
PETArds relate to domestic turkeys.
.
Should read “EveryTIME somebody kills a tomato”
blah blah blah.....
BTW, I did not watch it, did SNL do any skits w/ this story?
When I heard of this video I thought I’d see the turkeys neck being wringed, then chopped off. At least that’s the way it was done where I grew up.
You would think the camera man would have moved his camera a little so we woudn’t see the guy in the background doing his job.
About 3 weeks ago, I suffered through 3 of those turkeys. If I could accessed a gun, I would have shot all 3. I named the turkeys Nancy, Barney & Harry. They left poop all over the porch. Yuck! Nasty creatures!
Sign me up!
As for the horrible slaughter going on behind her, I’d imagine that sort of thing probably doesn’t faze someone who hunts.
“All the same, one cannot help but be amazed at this media obsession with the Alaskan Governor. Per Google, over 400 news outlets have seen fit to write about this turkey of a story. Included therein, national media such as USA Today, Washington Post, Fox News, MSNBC have reported on this “outrage”. Indeed, the NY Times actually published an editorial proclaiming that Palin spoke “while turkeys were being executed in the background.” Executed? This from the Fifth Column Executioners of the Fourth Estate. These assassins know no shame- leaving little wonder as to why the Times’ stock is now worthless. On Thanksgiving, these same Gobbling Goebbels are going to chow down, on average, over 5,000 American calories; including American “executed turkeys” -but still, they’ll belch socialist propaganda. “

Barbarian. We had a neighbor with a "chicken plucker". It looked like a big drum with a bunch of rubber fingers hooked to an electric motor. Drop chicken/turkey in the chute, feathers fly everywhere. I'm not sure how good it was for the meat....but darn.....it was impressive to watch. ;)
That says it all. Let's make PETA watch some abortion videos.
I know it doesn’t fit their acronym, but it is a much better description:
People with Nothing Real to Worry About
They are hatched wrapped in plastic with some of their innards in another plastic bag inside.
My only complaint about the video is that it shows a poor situational awareness by Sarah Palin and her aides. The MSM is her (and our) enemy. If they want to film her while at a turkey slaughterhouse, she should have looked behind her to see what was in the background and have them change the interview location.
it drives them nuts that Palin knows what goes on in a slaughter house and she is still not a vegan.
This story just gets funnier and funnier.
Sarah’s got these idiots all riled up and they keep giving her press.
Only bad press is NO press....
Weirdo ... ;-)
This ignorant and useless complaint is brought to us by the same people who have no problem at all with the silent screams of the slaughtered unborn children.
