NBC Universal made the first of potentially several rounds of staffing cuts at The Weather Channel (TWC) on Wednesday, axing the entire staff of the "Forecast Earth" environmental program during the middle of NBC's "Green Week," as well as several on-camera meteorologists. The layoffs totaled about 10 percent of the workforce, and are among the first major changes made since NBC completed its purchase of the venerable weather network in September.
The layoffs affected about 80 people, but left the long-term leadership of the network unclear, according to a source who requested anonymity due to the continuing uncertainty at the station.
Among the meteorologists who was let go was Dave Schwartz, a Weather Channel veteran and a viewer staple due to his lively on camera presentations. USA Today reported that meteorologists Cheryl Lemke and Eboni Deon were also let go.

Interesting, maybe the GW brainwashing didn’t take with these folks.
They fired the wrong group. Between MSNBC and SNL. GE has left itself with a filthy lefty organization that no clear thinking person should be watching.
TWC hasn’t been the same since they ran Hillary Andrews off. She was hot.
Green week. Great. I hope they don’t work it into Chuck again like they did last year. Though, conservative-in-real-life Adam Baldwin got to get in some digs at hippies.
The Weather Channel will perhaps now stick to the weather.
In the case of MSNBC, close it down permanently.
Hopefully it means the end of Heidi Cullen’s appearances...
Is Mike Seidel still around? He used to wear Rush’s ties back in the nineties.
Indeed.
Another of the seemingly endless number of vile totalitarian charlatans who now dominate our culture and society. Right up there with that massive data faker and Al Gore protege Hansen at NASA.
I was watching Stargate: Atlantis and those idiot writers kept cramming globull warming crap all throughout the episode!
Damn, it was irritating.
Ed
Idots.
Sorry Sir Ed that last post was meant for the first two posters.
That’s a shame because I love Stargate SG-1. I’ve owned seasons one through seven for a long time and am rewatching the entire series with the plan to finish Stargate and watch Atlantis for the first time. Was this a single episode or is the whole show like that? If the latter, it’s a shame because SG-1 rarely got political. Well, it had a lot of politics, but not typically with a tie to real world partisanship.
Uhoh, looks like the Green Job evolution has started. BO better get going on those 2.5 MILLION new Green Jobs.
The main plot was an experimental time-space bridge to use as a dump for the excess heat caused by carbon emissions, global warming would be solved because the heat would be taken to another universe.
Bill Nye was one of the actors, playing himself, and the conference was a global warming conference. The two main stars, Rodney McCay and Jennifer Keller, the doctor, kept talking about “solving global warning” and “healing the planet.”
In the final scenes, when she and Rodney are about to have sex in their private plane, Jennifer says “The absurdity of that guy’s experiment, thinking one man can solve our global warming crisis...we all have to work together, each of us in our own way, and that will solve it,” and Rodney says “You mean like, not flying private planes to our locations.”
It was disgusting, like Soviet-era propaganda films.
Ed
No one but her mother will miss seeing the GW zealot, Heidi Cullen, on the air. She is a true believer and will probably wind up in Obama’s EPA, God help us.
“It was disgusting, like Soviet-era propaganda films.”
That’s what I see every time I turn the TV on.
Cheryl and Ebony are on this morn
