ELTON JOHN SOLVES GAY MARRIAGE CONTROVERSY

Posted by: Michael Medved at 1:40 PM
Thursday, November 20, 2008

One of the world’s most prominent gay entertainers offered some rare common sense on the explosive issue of same sex marriage. In New York City for a gala AIDS benefit, rock legend Sir Elton John appeared with his long-time partner, David Furnish. “We’re not married,” he told the press, “Let’s get that straight. We have a civil partnership…I don’t want to be married! I’m very happy with a civil partnership. The word ‘marriage,’ I think, puts a lot of people off. You get the same equal rights that we do when we have a civil partnership. Heterosexual people get married. We can have civil partnerships”.

If more people on all sides of this issue embraced the simple, irrefutable logic of this clear-thinking superstar, a vastly divisive, unnecessary controversy could reach a successful and amicable solution.

The problem is radical gay activists are not looking for a compromise. What they want to do is to impose their lifestyle and its values on Californians and their children. Whether "they like it or not."

Actually they are not looking to build anything. Their goal is to tear down anything that threatens them. Heterosexual marriage is a threat. Symbols of the straight world must be destroyed.

Oh dear. Will the Prop 8 opponents now boycott all of Elton John’s music and concerts, and anyone who ever had anything to do with him? Will he now be labeled a gay traitor, and would that make him a gaytor?

He grew up a military brat and has a ton of money. That tends to make one conservative on most issues, his sexual proclivities notwithstanding.

I don’t think you could find many conservative values residing within Elton John. He’s pretty outspoken in his liberalism, particularly with regards to his hatred of George Bush.

Simply an observation....from Alabama....but we must have two hundred thousand couples in the state of Bama...who aren’t married and the guy involved really doesn’t want marriage period. He’s been through one or two marriages before and refuses to get into another stupid marriage. If you held a real ballot vote in Bama....allowing marriage period (even with straight couples)...just might not pass. I’m sure I’m not going to make some California folks happy...but marriage might be the last thing you’d really want to get into.

Yeah, they're listening. Just keep your eye on the SF chronic-ill, they will throw EJ under the bus in the next few days you can count on it.

To be honest, I don’t support civil unions either. I don’t support them because it is state support of an immoral relationship.

“He’s actually been married before. To a woman.”

She probably had a weirder honeymoon than that guy who was married to Britney Spears for a day.
