Breaking - McClintock Campaign Declares Victory

Just over the transom, the McClintock campaign is claiming victory, saying that their new lead is greater than the number of ballots left to be counted.

Here's the email from McClintock campaign Communications Director Bill George:

Vote Tally Mathematically Ensures McClintock Victory in Fourth Congressional District Race

Placer County today completed the process of counting absentee and provisional votes, and Tom McClintock gained 1,464 votes. The final Placer County tally gives McClintock a lead of 1,793 votes over Charlie Brown. With the vote tally completed in Placer and Nevada Counties, there is no mathematical way Charlie Brown can overtake McClintock's lead in the Fourth Congressional District election.

"The votes are almost all in and the result is no longer in doubt," said Bill George, McClintock for Congress communications director. "With the small number of votes remaining to be counted, there is no way Charlie Brown can overcome McClintock's lead. The Placer County vote total leaves no doubt that Tom McClintock has prevailed in this race and will represent the District in Congress," George said.

Some good news, too bad he didn't become California governor when Gray was recalled. The Minnesota Senate race has more than 100% of the adjustments going to Franken and a lead that was nearly 800 is down to 129 I heard.

That leaves Ohio 15 and Virginia 5 as the only undecided races left Congressionally now.

At last, one big victory this election cycle.

Tom is a good principled conservative. He’s not bombastic, and sticks to the facts.

Awesome. He’s just the kind of man we need to send to Congress.

I also got an email from Congressman Ron Paul to support McClintock. I’ve always been a McClintock booster, but it was nice to see that Ron Paul thought highly of him as well.

We need to get Ron Paul in some sort of leadership post, other than some foreign policy positions and an occasional social issue disagreement he is about the most principled Congressman we have.

Coleman is ahead by 120. 64% of the recount is done. There are a lot of GOP areas left to recount.

Some, more familiar than I with the 4th , have observed that Senator McClintock was subjected to this unnecessary drama because of Republican partisans within the district.

Their public objections were 1) Carpetbagging - although there are no contemporary, residential requirements for congressional contests and 2) Consistent criticism of ear marks.

Apparently these obstreperous partisans labored in the shadows, from the primary through the general election, to frustrate the Senator. This same group of misfits had historically clamored for pork but turned on their provider when the local, liberal, McClatchy rag repeatedly alleged similar practices by their Republican Representative.

Shame on this small flock of influential partisans. Thank God for principled conservatives.
