Mitt Romney Takes on Detroit

By Garance Franke-Ruta

The race for 2012 is already on in the Republican Party, and today failed 2008 contender Mitt Romney appeared to take a stand sure to complicate any future presidential bid. In an op-ed bluntly titled, "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt," the former Massachusetts governor argued against the automobile salaries and pension systems that have for decades helped define the good life in industrial Michigan, where Romney won the GOP primary this winter and where his father was once governor.

The RINO is all about fiscal conservatism, when he isn’t establishing a socialized medical system in Mass. GO Home RINO.

Mitt Romney is not the Savior. His fake Ronald Reagan haircut was enough for me.

He’s dead on regarding this issue.

I agree with you!

However, this is the first thing I've liked about Romney.

Geniuses like you are the reason a communist muslim from kenya is President of the United States.

There is a reason Adams and the rest of the Founders advised against giving the vote to women and those under 21, not to mention non freeholders.

Buy gold and guns, hell is coming.

You got that right.

During a real crisis no one should take the "advice" of failed ex-Governor Romney
who when Massachusetts was roaring, busted it,
and got a "C"-rating from Cato --- even before his fascist socialist RomneyCARE was installed.

Romney also betrayed President Bush. Here are the facts.

"As U.S. real output grew 13 percent between 2002 and 2006, Massachusetts trailed at 9 percent.
* Manufacturing employment fell 7 percent nationwide those years, but sank 14 percent under Romney, placing Massachusetts 48th among the states.
* Between fall 2003 and autumn 2006, U.S. job growth averaged 5.4 percent, nearly three times Massachusetts' anemic 1.9 percent pace.
* While 8 million Americans over age 16 found work between 2002 and 2006, the number of employed Massachusetts residents actually declined by 8,500 during those years.
"Massachusetts was the only state to have failed to post any gain in its pool of employed residents," professors Sum and McLaughlin concluded.
In an April 2003 meeting with the Massachusetts congressional delegation in Washington, Romney failed to endorse President Bush's $726 billion tax-cut proposal.

I do not agree with all of the criticisms of Romney. Not at all.

The Health Care BS was going to pass here in Massachusetts no matter what Romney did. Therefore he should not have signed on to it, but that was an incredibly stupid risk on his part. He took it, and he will never recover from it politically.

The rest of the negative crap spewed out here about Romney is exactly that,.....crap.

Romney is going nowhere politically, but I do find it interesting that he is talking anti UAW while being a son of Michigan. That is curious.

The auto industry has a special place in Mr. Romney’s heart.

He’s trying to save it by offering his help and advice.

Too bad. I hope he says "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt," again. It's about frickin' time some politician said it.

But for Myth Romney, Massachusetts would have had NEITHER gay marriage NOR socialized medicine.

Democrats' docile RINO GOP-Backstabber Romney gladly installing HillaryCARE=RomneyCARE
without a single citizen's vote (although he did poll his Utah conspirators):
"I have given you Dems both HillaryCARE and gay marriage.
Anything else you want -- without a vote, of course (wink, wink)?

No, having Palin on the ticket is the reason why a communist Muslim is going to be in the White House. By the way, Democrats right now are planning on voting in the Republican Primary in 2012 to make Palin the nominee. They aren’t stupid, they know exactly what they are doing. A feminist who gives praise to Hillary Clinton isn’t a conservative.

GOP_Lady: "The auto industry has a special place in Mr. Romney’s heart.

Now THAT is funny. Like how "Benedict Arnold" ROmney "saved" the GOP when he attacked Palin?

Leper, backstabber, shape-shifter Myth Romney:
"You will embrace this attack on Gov. Palin,
her little children and her baby, using only 20% of our junior staff
through their spouses and media connections.
Make the GOP lose ---- for ME.
Leak the attacks calling her stupid using Jindal's, McCain's and Huckabee's names
exactly like our attacks on McCain and Thompson using Huckabee's name during the Primaries.
Make Gov. Palin look stupider than a first grader - and contrast that to me.
Make Gov.Palin's family look ugly - and contrast that to mine.
Create, then support, the attack on Palin from our northern lands in the Belmont sanctuary mansion
using the same fake law enforcement badges and ploys which we fabricated and still enjoy.
I will gain GOP favor by condemning the attack and
ordering it opposed from our lands in the south, and through Utah, Fox News and Newsweek.
Whichever way the tide runs, we will rise and take the prize promised to Me in 2012.
"

You can't be that stupid! - She wasn't praising Hillary; she was appealing to her base constituancy.

This isn’t akin to a stopped clock. Clearly this is an intelligent and crafted argument that one doesn’t simply stumble onto.
