That’s what my son is asking. I don’t know how to answer him other than to say MCCain can always retract his concession if the results turn out differently. Am I right?

Trying to go to sleep and it’s futile. Feeling like I’m on another planet. Al Gore rescinded his concession speech in 2004 if I recall correctly.

A concession has no legal effect. It is considered classy and courteous. But many candidates who have conceded were later sworn into office when the final tally showed them to be the winner.

Of course, that isn't going to happen for McCain this election.
