Dole Trails Behind Democratic Rival Hagan in North Carolina Senate Race

The latest from North Carolina pollsters indicates that Sen. Elizabeth Dole is trailing even further behind Democratic rival Kay Hagan in a seeming backlash against the incumbent's "Godless" ad.

The race for North Carolina's Senate seat has become one of the ugliest in the country. Revelations that Dole spent little time in her home state over the last year as senator opened the seat for Hagan, a former state senator backed fiercely by the Democratic Party.

CNN/Opinion Research released a poll on Friday showing Hagan up 53 percent to Dole's 44 percent, the Democrat's biggest margin to date.

Dole sparked a firestorm last week with a TV spot accusing Hagan of accepting money from Godless Americans Political Action Committee, a New Jersey-based group that promotes rights for atheists and the separation of church and state.

Last week's polls showed Hagan with a slight edge over the incumbent. After a ferocious outcry from Democrats, the press and even some Republicans who said Dole went too far, Hagan appears to be increasing her lead.

Why did she vote for the bailout? It passed the senate with over 70 votes, she could’ve voted no.

If the voters of NC are this stupid, they deserve this commie hag.

Do you ever notice that polls are only trumpeted when Republicans are behind, and if a Republican is ever ahead (rare) the headline says the race is too close to call? More often, any favorable poll results are just ignored by the media entirely.

I listened to this crap for so long I couldn’t believe it when the media was actually right in 1992 and Clinton was elected.

Election season isn’t for the fainthearted. We face a rabid enemy, putting their best pink lipstick on their red (communist) tendencies, enabled by a hideous propaganda machine that lies, attacks, obfuscates, and ignores based on what assists their candidates and agenda. They can lie, cheat, and smear with impunity, while Republicans behave like they have PTSD, battered wife syndrome, and codependency all at once. If they attack, they are too mean...If they don’t,they are too weak...If they are moderate, they should have moved right...If they are conservative, they should have moved to the middle.... Then registered members of our own party join the enemy at strategic times and their betraying nonsense is repeated endlessly by the media pigs.

The liberal establishment runs this country. Political correctness is the established religion of our nation. The media may be losing money, but they remain very powerful in politics. Very sad.

Listen, the same lousy liberal driven polling that is all wrong in the presidential campaign is just as wrong in the campaign for this Senate seat.

I'm telling you we cannot let the pollsters who are feeding us this garbage at will, to “form opinion” or fear for us...

I don't think that Dole is that much upside down, so all of you good constituents in NC, get out and vote and bring this Senate seat and the presidential race into the win column for the conservatives! Don't let the pollsters fool you...

That’s one thing the RATS never do. They simply do not throw their own under the bus. And before you say it’s more important to have integrity than a seat, let me say the other part of this: it seems like the only time the Republicans speak up is to throw their own under the bus. They threw Mark Foley under the bus, but either defended or said nothing about William Jefferson. Pelosi’s husband getting contracts. Nothing. Dodd and Bwaney Fwank getting sweetheart deals from mortgage companies. Nothing. Tim Mahoney who took Foley’s seat and has at least two affairs under his belt already. Close to nothing.

*when Republicans express “outrage”, you know it’s over. *

“Republicans” like Powel endorsed Obama. I would have to know who they are calling Republicans as the media is well known to lie. I live in Raleigh and while I think Dole was not strong as a Senator, I have heard many real Republicans approve of the ad exposing where Hagen got her money. That ad was actually big conversation at the Palin rally among some near me tonight.

Hagan and many other didn’t get the point of the ad (even some on this board). If Hezbollah had of given Hagan money the reaction to say that she is a member of the Hezbollah would not have even been brought up. She took the money form the godless America group and this should have light shine on it.

Yeah, but the problem is, like McCain, of the million things to beat someone on, why hang your hat on one thing? I don't think anyone blames her for bringing it up, but the fact that she has made it her bread and butter will certainly turn people off.

My God, if Obama’s getting a pass for hanging out with Ayers and Wright, why put your campaign and possible control of the Senate on a someone associating with Atheism?

In FL where line extends beyond the “no campaign zone” there are people harassing line standing voters.

Obama bots don’t give a poop about the no campaign zones. for them elececting obama is more important than rules.

The reason Dole is going to lose is she is a carpet bagger. I held my nose and voted for her, but I know several Republicans who voted a straight ticket except for Dole. She moved away from NC in the 60’s, used her mom’s address to run for Senate, then has ignored the state.

The rats ads detailing how in one year, she spent 13 days in the state of NC since getting elected are effective.

Senator Burr spends all his off days here in state. She is a worse carpet bagger than Hillary. Not a worse politician, but just on the carpet bagger score.

She got elected here, then parked her butt in the Watergate hotel she lives in, and refuses to show up in the state except when it’s election time. It’s her own damned fault.
