Sarah Palin Is Going Up In Flames

4:29pm UK, Saturday November 01, 2008 Sparks will fly later when an effigy of US Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin goes up in flames at an historic bonfire bash.

Thousands of people will witness Mrs Palin lampooned at Battle bonfire in East Sussex, as the race for the White House enters its final days.

Six weeks of intricate craftwork have gone in to creating the 12ft-tall papier mache figure which will form the centrepiece of the town's 400-year-old bonfire celebration.

Attached to Mrs Palin is a model of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, a hockey stick in a nod to her "hockey mom" image and a moose to highlight her hunting background.

A event spokesman said: "We have taken political themes in the past, as well as blowing up Tellytubbies, at our celebrations.

"But we thought the US presidential elections were a big thing and in any case it was too late for us to create figures of certain BBC radio presenters."

The East Sussex town is world famous for being the site of the Battle of Hastings, where William, Duke of Normandy, defeated King Harold II to become William I in 1066.

Previous effigies at Battle bonfire have included Tony Blair and Gordon Brown as Punch and Judy, Margaret Thatcher, John Major and Neil Kinnock.

Where is the love? This has to be a satire. I cannot believe adults would do something so juvinile.

There’s a thought. If the British can have Guy Fawkes Day, where they burn effigies of a man who tried to blow up a government building, then why can’t we have a Bill Ayers Day?

Please don’t burn me but that’s a funny effigy. I rather like it. Too bad it has to burn, that’s the only downside. O’Blimey, LOL!

SWEET! This needs to be on the tube. Looks like O'Blimey's in trouble too, poor little guy. Wassup with leftists and their papier mache, anyway?

I won't burn you. LOL. The bonfire event usually burns someone/something newsworthy or high profile.
Previously they burnt an effigy of an art gallery.

It is not especially a political thing, and after the 24/7 Obama lovefest on the BBC (since the beginning of the Democratic primaries) I think many Brits are heartily sick of the US elections and past caring who wins.

These crazy democrats...I love it when they just insist on showing their childish bent, gathering the tribe around the campfire to do their wardances.

Watching all of thier nutty antics, I can't help but to surmise their only in-tention, is a-ttention. Has to be. Couldn't be anything else.

A burning in effigy (of anyone) does not propel America forward. It does not follow their "messiah's" claim of trying to "unite" people.

We really shouldn't care if they do this, even though it is dispicable, it's also sophmorish and infantile.

But let you or I step out to burn a little trash, and these same lame-brains would be squealing to high-heaven about the "pollution" we're causing and increasing our "carbon footprint"...where's algore when you need him?

We need to remember that long after the paper mache' has burned to ash, and the embers grow cold, our Governor Palin will still be out there with that brillant smile, and up-attitude promoting McCain and America for all she is worth.

Now the media will embrace and relish the burning, I'm sure...it's right in their pay grade. But the rest of America sees it as the stunt it really is...it will make NO difference tomorrow.

Liberals have never learned that no one really cares what they "feel", well, maybe for each other, but the rest of us have jobs, families and interest that don't involve a crucifix in a jar of urine, or global warming.

So, I say to them, "burn baby burn"...it's you who will have to clean up the mess, not me.

They could put that paper mache' to better use, like making pinata's for a childrens orphanage, or halloween decorations...oops...too late.

While they are out there trying to impress each other, lets all hang out with our kids and families and look forward the future with determination and a smile.

PS# My dog just went on the floor, and I wrapped it in paper and tossed it into the burning trash...does that count as burning obama in effigy? It was a total accident, I swear.

Ummmm, I'm sure few, if any Democrats (or Republicans, or Independents...) will be there, as this is in ENGLAND....

But yes, English can be rather, ummm, eccentric.

Notice in the effigy, they'll burn an image of Obama too.

When I read crap like this, I feel that my ancestors who fought and killed Red Coats in our two revolutionary wars didn’t kill enough.

Then I think about the sacrifices men like my father, uncles and cousins made in WWI and WWII to enable scumbags like this to waste oxygen.

My regrets to the remaining good Brits in the UK.

This summer I met and talked to a wonderful former Brit lady in her 80’s in the Carmel/Pacific Grove Area.

She came to the states shortly after WWII and had married an America, had 3 children, 6 grandkids and 2 great grandkids.

I asked her, why she came to America. She said all of the good men in Britain/the Uk had been killed, maimed or traumatized in the two big wars. The ones left were gay, metro sexuals or Peter Pans. So she came to America to find a good man to marry and to bear his children.

Articles like this one underline her wise decision to leave the UK decades ago.

Something just dawned on me. Put yourself in the position of a typical eurotrash socialist, islamist, Putinist. This caricature reveals a lot more about them than they'd care to admit. Just look at the images.

Palin? We’re sure that’s not Cherie Blair? She’s ugly enough.

Sir,
I too am happy my ancestors 300+ years ago left those little isles next to Europe--and fought them in our War of Independence.

However, this is a tradition in East Sussex where they've burned all kinds of effigies of respected people from their own country, and this one includes Obama too. It appears the Brits are just as tired of this election than we are...

Please cut the Susex folk, and their odd sense of humour, a break.

Further evidence that in a leftest socialist environment, that Sarah is a force to be reckoned with... very telling. If they were ignoring her, that would indicate that she is of no consequence... Go Sarah!
