If Zell is a Republican, why wouldn’t he want to release the tape, elect McCain and potentially get his piece of the pie (bail out)? Am I missing something?

They won’t release it, because they want Obama to win.

There’s no question that the msm (or “approved” portions thereof) will receive a government subsidy under an 0bama presidency. All soviet style dictators require a propaganda arm.

The most amazing irony in all of this would be if it was the Ayers that provided the video to the Times...

If William or Bernadette had given me that video - whether I promised them that I’d not release it or not, I wouldn’t release it. Period. Those whackos have a history and a teeny weeny IED would take care of me and/or my family... not a risk I’d wish upon my worst enemy.

What is Tribune’s equity? $14.7 billion isn’t necessarily a lot of debt if you have, say, $15 billion in equity. And they’ll do well when they sell the Cubs.

But if they released the tapes, wouldn’t that mean President McCain would owe them?

It will really upset me if a cent of that money is used to bail out liberal media outlets that are suffering because people are sick of their propaganda in the first place.

You got it. Almost every evil can be directly traced back to money as it’s root in some way - not all, but most.

The left has fantasized before about 'public support' for the MSM. Not going to be discussed now during an election, but will come up during the interregnum.

Just like the Fairness Doctrine, the MSM subsidy has been talked about among the left, but kept under wraps until they can get Obama elected.

The Uncle Sam Solution

Can the government help the press? Should it?

By Bree Nordenson

This past spring, the Columbia Journalism Review convened a panel of top editors and a media investor to discuss the somewhat tiresome topic of the future of newspapers. The situation is undeniably bleak. One need merely consult Romenesko, the media-news aggregator, to witness the freefall in circulation, the unending editorial cutbacks, and the closure of foreign bureaus at so many major metropolitan papers...

...government should play a role in ensuring the future of journalism: “To the extent that the for-profit business model doesn’t provide the level of information that we think society should have, that’s what government is for, and I believe that.”

AND.... who published Congressman Ryan’s divorce papers, thereby eliminating all competition for Obama to become a congressman, hmmmm????? Could it be.. NO, it can’t... Perhaps the LA Times?

Congressman Ryan IS Joe the Plumber. How did they get his divorce papers?

This is the way the mafia works. Is there still a mafia in Chicago?
