Why Obama's Columbia Years Went AWOL

There are some possible points of departure, e.g., "As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, there is an archive in the Columbia University Library (69.5 document boxes) about activism and protest (1958-1999). Someone who has access to the library needs to do some research."

His Harvard admission was (as the Marxists say) overdetermined.

1. Celebrity recommendation from Alinsky
2. Do-gooder resume, the law professors ate up the “community organizer” stuff.
3. Affirmative Action
4. Legacy (Barack Sr. had a Harvard masters).

The problem is we could find out that Bin Laden bank rolled Obama’s campaign and the Democratic Congress still wouldn’t impeach him.

Some weird going on. No records, no grades, no papers or thesis !?

Yet we know everything about Joe the Plumber simply because he had the nerve to ask the One a difficult question when The One came to JTP's neighborhood.

I suspect The One's records and perhaps even his papers at Columbia and Haaaavard refer to The One's place of birth in Kenya, which is why The One will not authorize the release of the records, papers, essays, and thesis.

It is not uncommon for a member of Congress to have his/her law license suspended. It can be voluntary action so that you don’t have to take CLE classes or pay a higher fee when you aren’t practicing law.

I have tried Bank Street — it's a tougher nut to crack... for one thing I don't have the “i am an Alum” rap to work...

Also it is a much smaller school and it is harder for me to “blend” — lastly, they are much more aware of the interest in Ayers and they are a close-knit liberal group...

I would love to get in there but I don't think i can. Also, remember, Ayers is in his own way MUCH smarter than Obama — and he was already a notorious person by the time he was at Bank Street and he was trying to “rehabilitate” himself — I suspect he was pretty good at covering his tracks.

The 25th anniversary of the 1968 Columbia idiocy would have been in 1993, not 1983.

I graduated in '82, and unlike Barry, actually attended all 4 years at CC. I don't remember him, but that's not unusual. I spent most of my last two years chasing Barnard girls women. I, too, lived off campus in my last two years there, having committed the sin of defenestration at the beginning of my Junior year.

I am still digging around for any papers or anything that would jar my memory of those years, but I do remember what a political hotbed it was. NYC Bullmoose, your report brought back a lot of memories, and it's dead on balls accurate.

He was identified as having a certain set of characteristics in those days by certain people and got a letter of recommendation to Harvard by no less a leftist than Saul Alinsky.

That's amazing, considering that Alinsky died in 1972.

LIvius, Columbia College is the undergraduate arm of Columbia U. I attended from ‘78 to ‘82. It may have had an external degree program, but it was not exclusively such.

Maybe someone should look into Harvard Law admissions records and find out what made him a good candidate.

Obama's Benefactor: Dr. Khalid al Mansour, I presume ...
August 27, 2008
"Percy Sutton, NYC political icon in the African American community, tells a news reporter that Dr. Khalid al Mansour solicited favor and recommendation on behalf of Barack Hussein Obama in order to secure Barack's entry into Harvard."

From David Horowitz's FrontPageMag.com/DiscoverTheNetworks.org:
Profile: Khalid Abdullah Tariq al-Mansour

"Khalid Abdullah Tariq al-Mansour is a Muslim lawyer and a black nationalist who made news in 2008 when it was revealed that he had been a patron of Barack Obama and had recommended the latter for admission to Harvard Law School in 1988.

Before becoming a Muslim, al-Mansour in the 1960s was named Don Warden. He was deeply involved in San Francisco Bay Area racial politics as founder of a group called the African American Association. A close personal adviser to Huey Newton and Bobby Seale, al-Mansour helped the pair establish the Black Panther Party but later broke with them when they entered coalitions with white radical groups."
...

Al-Mansour is an outspoken hater of the United States, Israel, and white people generally. In recent years he has accused the U.S. of plotting a “genocide” designed “to remove 15 million black people, considered disposable, of no relevance, value or benefit to the American society.” He has told fellow blacks that “whatever you do to [white people], they deserve it, God wants you to do it and that’s when you cut out the nose, cut out the ears, take flesh out of their body, don’t worry because God wants you to do it.” Alleging further that Palestinians in Israel “are being brutalized like savages,” he accuses the Jews of “stealing the land the same way the Christians stole the land from the Indians in America.”

-- some pages / articles had been removed from the "bound copies edition." Someone had used a razor blade to go at the 82/83 book... maybe a total of 20 total pages were damaged or missing...

I find this interesting and suspicious.

As weird as the Harvard Class Photo with Obama in the center that was so obviously photoshopped and then suddenly removed from the website.

I make jokes about my tin foil hat, but I’m started to really question if this isn’t the most ridiculous conjob in the history of histories. I keep thinking about that movie Wag the Dog.

Just what I am thinking. There has to be some Columbia Freepers out there with a set of souvenier newspapers stashed in their attic. It is time to dig up what Obama does not want found.

He didn’t go to Columbia University! He went to Columbia College, which was an external degree program run by Columbia University for older students, students who had gone through other colleges but didn’t have the grades to get into the Columbia U undergrad program (Obama’s problem), and students who were working and couldn’t attend classes. A certain amount of class attendance was required (I think they had seminars every now and then), but generally you got your degree without being on campus.

You are wrong. Columbia College is the school of liberal arts at Columbia University. Its admissions standards (and graduation requirements) are extremely rigorious even for an affirmative action applicant born in Kenya and raised as a Muslim in Indonesia.

The program you are referring to is the School of General Studies of Columbia University, which is primarily for returning and non-tradional students.

Thanks. It did have an external degree program, which I know because I considered enrolling in it. I finally decided on the Regents program, which was entirely external, because Columbia College required attendance at seminars.

However, it depended on the major. You couldn’t do all majors through the external degree program, but I’m pretty sure things like education, social work, and the mysterious “humanities” were included, because this was meant to be something intended for people already working in the field who simply needed a degree. I don’t know Obama’s major, but I’d bet it was something that didn’t require regular class attendance.

I’m sure people you went to school with know and remember you. But the fact that nobody seems to remember Obama, except somebody who was in a seminar with him, makes me think he was in a program where the students rarely met.
