Cardinal Egan: Look at this Photograph
Creative Minority Report ^ | 10/26/2008 | Cardinal Egan

Just Look

The picture on this page is an untouched photograph of a being that has been within its mother for 20 weeks. Please do me the favor of looking at it carefully.

Have you any doubt that it is a human being?

If you do not have any such doubt, have you any doubt that it is an innocent human being?

Baby at twenty weeks

A picture is worth a thousand words. The lethal bigotry against the child in the womb is on its way out. May those afflicted with this sick bigotry get used to that fact.

Very well done by the Cardinal.

I wish he’d seen to it that Snowbama
was NOT invited to the Al Smith dinner
(proceeds to Catholic causes).

That was very hypocritical and wrong.

In your best John Cleese voice say:

“Well, it could be a... fish? Or, or, uh, or a... porcupine? Couldn’t it? Can’t you see the tiny quills? No? Uh, how about an eagle? Elephant? Snake? Rhinocerous? Ah! It’s a Giraffe! That’s it, it’s a Giraffe. No doubt there at all. Right! There, that’s done with! So, what shall we discuss next?”

I honestly do not know how anyone could look at that and not see a living human being. the way people rationalize these things for their own self-serving ideals is sad on some levels and disgusting on many levels.

Not Catholic, but have an interesting anecdote.

Ultrasound pic of my son at 4 mos raising a fist in a certain way, cute but thought nothing of it (almost a pose)

At age 4 my son was with me at a pet expo. In the reptile pavillion he made the identical pose in front of a statue of his favorite dinosaur ( T rex)

Did the Cardinal Eagan show this picture to the Messiah at the Al Smith Dinner?

If they didn’t invite Obama the MSM would be screaming the church is trying to influence the elections, separation of church and state, IRS should investigate, the pope is trying to turn the election in favor of McCain etc etc etc...damn if you do....damn if you don’t.

Yeah. I was irritated by Cardinal Egan being photographed with Obama at the Al Smith dinner, too. Those photographs gave Obama an undeserved boost amongst Catholic voters. Although I must say Cardinal Egan wrote a spectacular piece regarding the photograph of the twenty week child in the womb. I’ll have to forgive him now.

The Al Smith affairs have worn out their usefulness. If the bishops can't, or won't, speak the truth in love to politicians as part of their normal role as shepherds, they have no business hobnobbing with pols in such a way that it leaves them with the impression that perhaps the moral issues aren't so important, after all. These fetes smack of insider cronyism, now. The "times" delivered along these lines in my own neck of the woods (Massachusetts) are nauseating in their familiarity with near-vermin politicians, and leave the people confused at best, and mumbling about rank hypocrisy otherwise.

The nature of our situation, with respect to the Church's interaction with nearly all Democrats, and a fairly large number of Republicans, is - or should be - adversarial. The role of Nathan ("You are the man!") in 2 Samuel 12:7 is what our bishops and priests should be adopting, and not the role of appeasing flatterers/court jesters for a class of people who are, with few exceptions these days, more and more reprehensible by the month. That Obama, Clinton, Koch, Bloomberg and Pataki (as just the vanguard of many more unnamed solons of their ilk) were there as guests of honor underscores and validates everything I have just said. Such outings are reduced to being a disgrace. God help us.
