Sarah Palin, the GOP vice presidential nominee, poses with supporters Tuesday in Henderson at a rally that produced a change in the candidates tone.
***********************************************
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin unveiled a new stump speech before a crowd of thousands at the Henderson Pavilion, appealing directly to women and softening her overall tone.
Its about time we shattered that glass ceiling once and for all, said Palin, the Republican vice presidential nominee.
And the chant went up: Sarah! Sarah! Sarah!
Palin offered a range of women- and family-friendly policy proposals not usually heard from Republican candidates.
She called for equal-pay-for-equal-work and more family-friendly policies such as flexible workweeks. She offered an homage to the federal law requiring that womens collegiate sports have the same resources as mens.
She castigated the subjugation of women abroad.
Meet Sarah Palin, feminist extraordinaire.

FYI
typical GOP: “I favor free markets except when I have to pander to some group to get myself elected...”
I hate to say I told you so, but...
Indeed, the Palin message resonated with some in the crowd, and especially supporters of Sen. Hillary Clinton, the failed Democratic candidate.
Barbara Dimmick is a registered Democrat who volunteered for Clintons campaign during the caucus. When Clinton lost, she said, she was devastated until McCain announced Palin.
I wasnt going to vote at all, said Dimmick, who was laid off from her job as a cage cashier at Circus Circus in August. Then Sarah jumped in and got my vote ... We need women in politics. Its long overdue.
She voted early for McCain.
Marge Cameron, whos 78 and a registered Democrat, also supported Clinton in the caucus: Hillary started it, and Sarahs going to finish it, she said.
The article goes on to argue that no one is really joining Palin as a woman. Its pretty ridiculous to see the bias of the reporter. This is why Obama will lose Nov 4.
SAY WHAT!!!!! I hope some speech writer was responsible for that statement.
go back to energy mccain look what OPEC is up to...........
go back to energy mccain look what OPEC is up to...........
Even a great politician has to be a politician.
Go Sarah!
A fine, well rounded Conservative candidate.
Ta hell with people who can't appreciate that.
Go watch the speech, she included comments on the energy issue.
To steal a line from Triumph, the insult comic dog:
Sarah-brate good times, come on!
Sarah-bration!
She’s been saying that stuff since the beginning. I don’t like the Title X or IX (whatever it is) stuff either (maybe because I have 3 boys who I know are hurt by it), however. . .
I’m a woman and McCain does need to get more female support to win. So does the GOP in general. We have the married woman’s vote but every year there are more unmarried woman (divorced, single, widowed) who always go Dem. I don’t think it’s really about abortion or anti-war stuff per se, but women want “women’s issues” addressed and those issues *don’t* have to mean spending and “programs.” Just attention.
So it’s probably OK that Palin is doing all this now. I think McCain has all the men he’s going to get now; now he has to get some of these undecided wishy washy “independent” women.
Because the men’s sports get cut and crowded out in college, and there are truly FAR more men than women interested in sports at the college level.
So things like men’s wrestling and swimming end up getting cut. It hurts far more men than it helps women.
What’s that? The oriental version??? (grin)

energy is at issue
