I am starting to have the strangest feeling....that of winning Michigan which has the no.1 Liberal city in America, Detroit, in it.

I wouldn't say the most liberal (San Francisco, Berkeley are much more leftist), but Detroit is probably the biggest Democratic Party stronghold. I also feel McCain is going to carry Michigan...and probably Pennsylvania.

I would agree, I just remember that there was a magazine or some publication that proclaimed that out of all of the cities, Detroit is the most Liberal. It was a while ago(one of the big links on here for a day or so some months back) and such a blur that I cannot even remember the source. I do agree that San Fran and Berkeley, cultural wise, are more Liberal. It is possibly because of the different Liberal political machines there, including the strong force of the Labor Unions.

I do feel that the problem with people like Joe Biden and his recent “coal” gaffe is that the Democrats have to decide which base they are nailed to: The 1800s Labor Union, Blue Collar Base, or the 1960s Ethnic Radicalism/Left-over Social Activistic/Environmental base. The “clean coal” statement reminds me of Barack’s bitter statement. So yes, I do believe that if they decide to forsake their Union base with more elitist comments, there might be a stronger showing in places like Michigan and McCain will win there. Sarah Palin will make sure of that.
