Or the dozens of other "vicious" pit bulls, rotterweilers, and german shepherds rolling around in the floor with kids, playing with baby ducks, and taking naps with kittens. Those of you attacking the animals, they didn't turn that way overnight. Go after the thugs who abuse the dogs and turn them into monsters. They're the ones who cause these tragedies, and the ones who should be held responsible...

That's great, of course, if you're interested in finding someone to hold responsible.

Myself, I think finding someone to punish is too little, too late...why should something like this have to happen before a dog can be removed?

What would you suggest? Drive around the hood looking for thug with their dogs on chains? You realize that "vicious" breeds go through cycles based on what's cool right (ie Doberman's have fallen somewhat out of style)?

So after you get your government bans in place and destroy ten million loyal family dogs for every one that's abused til it's a monster, the thugs will just be chaining Great Danes and Mastiffs and friendly, PC yellow Labs up in their backyards. Once the media decides those are vicious, do we ban Lassie too?

Come to think of it, this is eerily familiar. Ban vicious-looking "assault" weapons even though they're perfectly safe in the hands of millions of owners, because of the handful of thugs that act like thugs. Confiscating similar tools from law-abiders *always* works right? Those thugs will never switch to the next most convenient tool right?
