A rosary can absolutely be worn - Eastern and Southern European Catholics, as well as Latin American Catholics, wear them all the time. It was only in cultures where Catholics were a persecuted minority (UK, Ireland) that the wearing of the Rosary became taboo. Just because the Irish Catholic norms transferred to the US does not make them correct. If a rosary is worn reverently, then there is no issue.

How interesting, I didn't know that. I always thought they were so beautiful and as a young child wanted to wear one but was told most forcefully that it wasn’t proper.
