Newest Palin Attack: Son Vandalized Buses, Forced to Join Military (NYDaily News Debunks)

It seems like the rumors, innuendo and smears thrown by the left against Governor Sarah Palin and her family will never stop. Apparently, the newest lie being casually thrown about by the DemocraticUnderground and the National Enquirer is that Palin's soldier son Track was involved as an unidentified vandal of Wasilla school buses in 2005. Worse, the rumormongers are denigrating Track's patriotism for joining the military and claiming that he was somehow "forced" to join to avoid prosecution. Naturally, they haven't a shred of proof. Fortunately, the New York Daily News has quickly debunked this lie.

In a DU posting from September 2, it was claimed that a "non-disclosed judicial source" said that Track Palin was an "unidentified minor" involved in tire slashings of a fleet of school buses in Wasilla in December of 2005. A 2005 report says that several teens had been found "deflating tires in 44 First Student buses, breaking mirrors and unplugging 110 buses from their engine-block heaters, which caused the buses not to start in subzero weather on Nov. 29."

The DU poster also said that Track was forced to join the military. "Rumors are circulating," the posting claims, "about Track being forced to accept military service or jail time."

It is reported that the National Enquirer is going to drop this story based on nothing but shadowy innuendo on Thursday....

Someone needs to make up one of those websites where every time you click it, three or four new blanks get filled in with random words and a random Sarah insult is formed.

Fun’s fun and this crap is hard to take when it first hits...though I know everyone is getting used to it and it turns into a chuckle in a minute.

But I see no reason to discourage the left from keeping on keeping on, they are relentless.

The kids responsible said yesterday that he had nothing to do with the vandalism at all. This is the inquirer trying to get revenge because McCain threatened them with a law suit. It is pretty bad when your story is debunked before you bring it out but you print it anyway. What scum.

It has been about 15-20 years since judges were able to dump offenders into the military instead of jail. Of course, the Rats can’t be bothered to confirm facts - lies and innuendo will do fine...

If a couple of convicted teen vandals showed up on CNN to claim that some Democrat politician’s kid wasn’t involved in a juvenile crime that the various sources are accusing him of, not one FReeper would respond with “SEE, it was a lie! The proof is that those kids said so on CNN!”

This mindless, knee-jerk insistence that Palin and her family can do no wrong should be beneath FReepers. The National Enquirer says “sources” told it Track Palin was one of the unnamed perpetrators of this vandalism. Two teenage vandals tell us he wasn’t. Bottom line is that we have no reliable information as to whether he did or didn’t. We do know that Bristol was running around doing things her parents disapproved of (as would most parents). There’s no particular reason to think Track wasn’t doing the same, regardless of whether or not this specific allegation is true, because we already know that these parents weren’t keeping close tabs on their teenagers.

There’s also no reason to hold Track up as a “hero” because he enlisted in the army. It appears he had few other employment opportunities, and if his academic record had been worthy of anything other than an open-enrollment community college, I’m sure we would have heard about it. Maybe he’ll eventually do something that makes him a hero, but right now, he’s just another kid who enlisted because he didn’t have any better opportunities, and he deserves the same level of respect for the choice as any inner city kid who picked the army over the neighborhood drug-running gang.

None of this means we should vote for Obama-Biden over McCain-Palin, but the silly Palin-worshipping really ought to stop.

Have you either been a judge or been in the military? Or been a politician or the child of a politician? I’m curious as to where you’re getting your intimate knowledge of how these things work.

Do they even do this anymore? Join or jail?

The military does not want them and will not (knowingly) take them.

“But note that the source of the “debunking” is a couple of admitted and convicted teenage vandals....”

Yes, but ALSO quoted from the link is this:

“The NYDaily News also spoke to another person involved in the incident.

“Track Palin was not involved [with the vandalism],” confirmed Capi Coon, the mother of another Wasilla teen arrested for the destructive spree.”

This is from a MOTHER of one of the teens arrested. No mom is going to sit quietly by while HER son is arrested and ANOTHER boy, from a well known local family is ignored. The injustice would really irk her, as it would me. Her boy may have to pay the price, rightly, for his criminal mischief, but so should ALL the boys involved. If this Mom says Track wasn’t involved, I believe her.

Naw, this is just the latest attempt by the media to try and find ways to discredit Palin AND disappoint those of us who are so thrilled to find this wonderful woman as part of our team. They want us to start doubting, they want to discourage us into not voting in November. But it’s not working. With each day and each new slander, smear and lie, I am more and more DETERMINED to beat back these creeps and win in November.

cheers, pattyjo

They keep lashing out, don't they?

This isn't "lashing out", this is twitching. They've gone spastic on us. This appears to be one of the more acute symptoms of PDS.

Let's assume for a moment that this, or the next, or the next, or the next attack were proven beyond any doubt to be true. What would it prove - other than the obvious fact that none of the Democrat Attack Journalists have ever raised a teenager? He's 19, he's out of the house, he's in the Army and safely headed to Iraq. From a parent's perspective, it's all good. I know the Democrat Attack Journalists and the rest of 0's strategists wouldn't understand this but the rest of America does.

Let's just hope the Dems keep attacking Sarah Palin right up to November, while the Republicans keep repeating "Drill, drill, drill, he's weak on defense and doesn't understand free market economics".

As a punishment, I heard that Track was also sent down to New Orleans on the eve of Katrina to help Nagin make sure those school buses are not vandalized, stolen, or looted.

Yeah. That’s it.

But note that the source of the “debunking” is a couple of admitted and convicted teenage vandals. About the same credibility level as DU posters and much lower credibility than the National Enquirer.

No, the "debunking" is courtesy of the Army regs:

Army Regulation 601-210, paragraph 4-32a states "waiver is not authorized if a criminal or juvenile court charge is pending or if such a charge was dismissed or dropped at any stage of the court proceedings on condition that the offender enlists in a military service."

“Bottom line is that we have no reliable information as to whether he did or didn’t.”

Are you out of your stinkin’ mind???
Two of the INVOLVED said HE wasn’t. In a court, that’s called “EVIDENCE”.

And no one is “Worshipping” Palin. That is reserved for people who follow Candidates compared to JESUS, it seems.

“he’s just another kid who enlisted because he didn’t have any better opportunities”

Again, ARE YOU STUPID?
His mother is the GOVERNOR OF ALASKA.
He caould have wwalked in to ANY oil company office in the state, applied for a job, and be given one INSTANTLY, even without family help. Or been admitted to ANY college in the land, simply because of who his mother was.

He chose another path.

Take this crap back to KOS, will ya?

Are you trying to tell me you’ve never heard of an influential politician getting caught persuading a judge to give preferential treatment to one of the politician’s family members? Or for that matter, of judges independently giving preferential treatment to a politician’s family members or business associates?

And the open-ended slamming of Palin should stop as well. Many, like you, are all too willing to believe ANYTHING negative about her. And even when there’s proof refuting it, are willing to discount it because it doesn’t fit with your preconcieved notions. As you said above, “... we have no reliable information as to whether he did or didn’t.”. However, you’re all too willing to believe he DID and are going so far as to make things up to fit that opinion. Since the other kids who were caught said he wasn’t involved, they’re liars about THAT too. Since they were convicted and he wasn’t, Gov. Palin “pulled strings”. If one of her children made a mistake, then it’s a safe assumption that ALL of her children have too. Even though a good number of people with firsthand knowledge have said the practice of forcing kids into the military to avoid criminal conviction has been discontinued for many years, you’re still contending that it happens with a “wink wink nudge nudge” because that fits your theory.

Yeah, you’re credible.

Yes I have but there is usually evidence. That is not the case here. You are creating evidence in your own mind.

Sorry, but there is every reason for the mother of a messed up teen criminal to want to curry favor with the governor of her state and possible future VP of the USA. Plenty to gain and nothing to lose by daying what she said, even if she knows it’s not true.

I am well aware of the extremely high standards required for the honor of service in the most senior armed service of the United States.

Likewise, our brothers and sisters at arms in the other services serve with equally high standards disqualifying those with past criminal conduct.

I had the honor of serving with a number of the finest fighting men that I ever knew, Marines all, from 1966 to 1969. See my homepage for a photo of your ride.
