Livethread - Obama, McCain, and Rick Warren

Posted on 08/16/2008 4:57:08 PM PDT by UFC Pride K1

Share your thoughts about the Saddleback Civil Forum, which starts at 8:00pm EST..

Will Warren throw softballs on the issue of abortion?

Will he give both candidates free passes?

Will this be an attempt to minimize the lives of the unborn while giving higher priority of less urgent social issues?

I don’t have ANY doubts about McCain and the Supreme court now. Perfect answer and you can tell it is from his core, not some program.

If McCain picks a conservative VP I think this thing is over.

This was McCain kicking Obama’s butt completely.

He is a member of the council on foreign relations. He is a key advisor on Tony Blair’s Religious Council. His statements have indicated an intolerance towards Christian Organizations that will take a firm stand on Scriptural tenets - i.e., will Call Islam a hellish religion, i.e., will firmly say right is right and wrong is wrong. He is against Islamic and Christian Fundamentalism and has made the two essentially equivalent. With the backing of his publisher, Rupert Murdoch, and with his global tentacles going all over the place, I believe he may well be part of the group that will eventually limit freedom of Religious expression in this nation and impose a global rule about what is and what is not acceptable religious speech and belief.

“these churches”

Hagee doesn’t. He’s almost fire & brimstone sometimes. It’s great. Makes me remember rulers.

discipline to Christ, “If ye love me keep my commandments.” -Jesus Christ

And therein lies the core. If you love Him you do so because of His sacrifice for us. You accept Him as your Savior, knowing you aren't worthy of His grace, but that it's freely given. The sacrifice, discipline and living correct principles are manifestations of the life we come to lead because of our acceptance of Him as our Savior. How can we not do good things knowing what He has done for us?

He does not have to waste time/energy pulling up a [pseudo self'] in Obama's case another empty pseudo suit.

And yes, his experience is most evident. Warren is more than surprised here, I am sure. He appears to be. ..feeling McCain's heat.

McCain wants everyone to be rich and wants to keep taxes low.

Great conservative answers.

Johnny Mac is on fire. On fire.
I have never seen him perform better.
Conservatives should be very, very happy.
The contrast between McCain and the horrifically dismal Obama is stark.

How did Barry answer the question about evil? I had to turn the bozo off.

He's against it.

I’m not able to see the debate, but I agree with you. Glad he’s doing well. =]

“NEA”

What you’re strip searched for when walking into a teaching job is not necessarily what happens when you pull the lever or punch that chad. You don’t VOTE in front of the NEA rep, even if they’re not too happy about that.
