Sherman Oaks here - it felt pretty big and went on for a while. Can’t get hold of my parents on the phone. Will go out to them in a few minutes.

It knocked stuff off my shelves. Quite dramatic.

Reporting in from the L.A. harbor area. It was a window rattling experience here. It was the first "big one" that my cats have ever been through.

They were looking at me like I was the one who was making it happen. :-)

Verizon Wireless is jammed....everyone calling everyone

Make that a reminder to everyone that cell phones may very well be useless in large-scale emergencies.

BTW: text messaging will likely work; know how to use it, and make sure those you'll want to communicate know how to as well.
