Exactly. If you believe it is a problem for you or your family, fine, you invest your money in solving the problem. Don't make me pay, under threat of imprisonment, to cure every social ill that is discovered or diagnosed.

As the grandmother of an autist youngster, I cannot get worked up over this. He's using hyperbole to make a point and in extreme cases there can be some truth to some of what he says.

An industry has been created using those with "disabilities" to increase the size of government. The excesses has created suspicion for all those who are in genuine need. I am not offended by Savage's remarks.

my nearly 30 yro dtr lives with us and she has Aspergers which is high functioning autism....

while she is not a lot of trouble, she has few social skills, no work skills, poor communication skills, lacks perception, lacks good gross or fine motor skills, but that is improving some....she can not pick up sarcasm, or intonation, or satire ...she's a whiz at Jeopardy and can record off the tv unto a dvd and knows her way somewhat around a computer....

will she every marry?.....doubt it...she doesn't particularly like touching....work?...well, she has to really work at it to count money....has poor time/spatial perceptions....is slow to respond.....is paranoid about people....obsessive compulsive in many ways.

I think she'll be living with us our entire lives and believe me, I only WISH I could just give her a good talking too....
