Kerry: McCain's Judgment Is Dangerous
CBS ^

Kerry: McCain's Judgment Is Dangerous WASHINGTON, July 6, 2008(CBS) Sen. John Kerry believes that the presumptive Republican nominee for president is adhering to the Bush Administration orthodoxy in ways that call into question his carefully-nurtured image as a political maverick.

"John McCain has changed in profound and fundamental ways that I find personally really surprising, and frankly upsetting," the Democratic Senator from Massachusetts said on CBS' Face The Nation.

"This is a different John McCain. This is not the Senator John McCain; this is want-to-be president John McCain.

"And the result is that John McCain has flip-flopped on more issues than I was even ever accused possibly of thinking about! I mean, this is extraordinary what he's done: He's changed on taxes; he's now in favor of the Bush tax cut. If you like the Bush economy, if you like the Bush tax cut and what it's done to our economy, making wealthier people wealthier and the average middle class struggle harder, then John McCain is going to give you a third term of George Bush and Karl Rove.

I’m not going to. People already know John’s record of service. I don’t think being a POW qualifies someone to be President. If John’s history in Congress and the Senate were Conservative, he would have my support.

I’ll tell you what. I have made over 70,000 comments on this fourm. I have posted over 500 threads. If you’re still in doubt, that’s okay. I can live with it.

A common trait of the McCain Deranged is to minimize or ignore or ridicule his military service. Another trait is to equate a McCain Presidency with that of Obama. There is no possible comparison.

So tell me here, now. Tell about the conservatives you voted for President since 1984.

Who ever said it did?

A common trait of the McCain Deranged is to minimize or ignore or ridicule his military service.

Well, you've been looking for a reason to dismiss my comments all day.  The problem for you is that you can't dismiss John McCain's history.  There are better men than I that take John McCain to task.  I have explained that I do not intend to go there.  For that same reason, I'm not going to polish the same apple McCain has had his staff polished constantly over the last eight years that I know of.  It would be a waste of time.  People are aware of John's military history, and if they are concerned with any of it, they can look up information as easily as I can.

What's your spin on closing Gitmo, granting Genevea Convention status to unlawful combatants, forbidding water boarding, withdrawing all our tacitcal battlefiled nukes from Europe, and destroying more of our nuclear deterence, to the point where just the bare minimum we need will be left?  I mean there is so much to go after this bastard on...

Another trait is to equate a McCain Presidency with that of Obama. There is no possible comparison.

Well, I have compared it.  I have explained what a McCain presidency would mean for Conservatism and you have basically implied, "So what?"  Well, if you wish to take that route, you can.  It certainly calls to question something you've tried to pin on me all day.  What Conservative could make some of the cases you do, with no concern at all for what I have pointed out?

Okay, so I ask again about the conservatives you voted for since 1984.

Can't bring yourself to admit that not voting for McCain is a passive decision for an Obama Presidency, can you?

Do you believe in the Constitution or not?  I'm just curious, because you don't seem to care if McCain detroys it.  And here you ask me to relinquish my right of secret ballot.

We are addressing the issue of John McCain being a sound candidate to become President.  We base that on John's record, not mine.  You have sought to make this about me from the first post.  And so far you're still stuck with John's record.

I’m not sure how your precincts conduct their elections, but in mine I cast a vote and it is counted. If I don’t cast a vote, it is not counted. It is not counted for a second person because I left the designated place blank.

I suspect it works that way in your district too.

I have explained what a McCain presidency would mean for Conservatism . . .

And I have explained that unlike you, I care more about my country than a political movement.

Why don't you turn your "research" toward Jimmy Carter, Slick, and Obama and what they did and may do to our country?

Nice try, but think about it. If all conservatives decline to vote, Obama will become Prez. Duh.

I have explained what a McCain presidency would mean for Conservatism...

And I have explained that unlike you, I care more about my country than a political movement.  It has been quite evident that you don't give a hoot about Conservatism.  It's been enjoyable giving you enough rope to hang yourself.  And you've been quite obliging.  Thank you.

Why don't you turn your "research" toward Jimmy Carter, Slick, and Obama and what they did and may do to our country?  I have spent about 35 years on forums discussing political issues.  And during that time I have addressed Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and Obama.

Your RNC approach to this matter has been instructive.  You don't care what a guy is, as long as he has an (R) behind his name.  I do.

You can look around on this thread and read what my comments and thoughts on Obama are.  You've had to stumble over them to address other matters to me.

"This is a different John McCain. This is not the Senator John McCain; this is want-to-be president John McCain.

Perhaps but for sure this is the same ole John Kerry stabbing his fellow veterans in the back and twisting for all he's worth.

One of the most despicable men ever to wear a US uniform.

No, I merely ask who you voted for President since 1984.

Jackie, I cannot support the likes of John McCain to be president. I am not responsible for this mess. I did not vote to make John our nominee, and I will not rubber stamp him to be President. You can cast that any way you like. You’re not going to goad me into supporting John McCain. You are not going to goad me into not revealing what John McCain has been up to for the last 26 years.

What you don’t realize, is that others are searching for answers this year. If you disagree with me, that’s fine. We can do it the long way or the short way. When we do it like you have forced me to do it here, you allow me to address every single criticism of my take on this that there is.

Do you honestly think that helps your cause? You are not honest. You acknowledge no points the other person makes. You continue to try to make this about me, and not John’s record. You continue to try to make it about Obama’s and not John’s record. And when I say your plan will just about destroy the ability for Conservatism to function, you state you don’t care.

Kiddo, this nation can stay around for a long time. Without Conservatism it will continue to exist. It just won’t be worth living in. And you think it’s okay if we sacrifice Conservatism on the alter of the almighty Republican party.

Well I don’t.

We can continue this while you destroy your cause, or you can gracefully agree to disagree and call it a day.

Your move.

You Sir have a patience akin to that of Job.

Thank you for your posts here today.

It has been an interesting thread, but I’ve read it all so far and that is enough for me.

Thanks for your efforts. I think (know) that we are in accord.

Strut your vitae to someone who cares.

You rip the only nominee to stand in the way of complete Leftist domination of the federal government. When Obama and his Marxists pals pass socialized health care, retreat from the war on radical Islam, send our income and Social Security taxes to the moon,

you can rest assured that your heart was in the right place.

I recognize and choose to ignore when you blow irrelevant smoke. The fact is that either Obama or McCain will become President. One will be better for our country than the other. I think McCain will be better. Do you disagree?
