I am going to hazard a guess that the ruling by the SCOTUS played a part in this!(probably not really but it sounds good doesn’t it?) I never did know why they charged this guy, I would have given him more ammo and told him to keep watch on the rest of the neighborhood, made him an honorary police officer. I guess that is why I am not in charge of anything in this state:)
They didn't. In cases such as this, the DA often refers the case to the grand jury, knowing he's going to get a "No Bill" (even the anti RKBA Harris country DA). The DA would have looked pretty stupid, and might not be re-elected, if he'd charged a man defending his neighbor's property and his own person against two illegal aliens with criminal records.
