Barack Obama and his advisers have begun the process of vetting vice presidential running mates, and Hillary Clinton and several former military leaders have landed on the soon-to-be Democratic nominees list of 20 potential candidates.
Clinton, Obamas rival during the primary contests, reportedly made the cut by building an energetic coalition of support among women, working-class voters and Hispanics in her unsuccessful bid for the partys nomination, and, according to Obama, would be on anybody's short list.
Clinton finished strong by winning six of the last nine and nine of the last 15 primaries, including decisive 10-point victories over Sen. Obama, D-Ill., in the key electoral states of Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Making the list of potential VP candidates along with Sen. Clinton is Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., who was Secretary of the Navy during the Reagan Administration. Webb has the high-level military credentials Obama needs to provide reassurance to voters in the face of criticism that hes short of national security experience.
According to an NBC report, other former military leaders making the list include retired Gen. Wesley Clark, who unsuccessfully ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2004, and retired Gen. James Jones, a former Supreme Allied Commander of NATO.
Jones, a Vietnam veteran who is critical of the number of troops currently in Afghanistan, has held independent posts in both the Democratic Congress and the Republican-run State Department.
Others under consideration from the military ranks include retired Gen. Tony McPeak, who was Air Force chief of staff during Operation Desert Storm; retired Maj. Gen. Scott Gration, who flew repeated combat missions and has worked with Obama on a range of military issues since before he began his presidential campaign; and Richard Danzig, who was Navy secretary under President Clinton.

Good!
Good!
why go through the freaking theatrics. Nobody else will do it. Just name her.
He fired the guy running the list. This dope is on autopilot. We might really have the Manchurian Candidate here.
Now that she has almost succeeded knocked off the entire selection comittee, she can appoint herself Chair and Sole Member at Large then recommend herself for VP.
He is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.
Quickest way to solve a problem is to remove it.... it won't be Hillary.
You can't be that dumb/ignorant.
Funny how they use that as a credential. He only served about a year in that position and "chose" to leave.
Oh, MILITARY leaders on the short list?????? ROTFL! Me thinks his inexperience is showing, and he is going to put on yet another dog and pony show.
How about the military guy from the Village People?
Hiliarly is on the ‘list’ as a courtesy only.
It would be the height of political insanity for Obama to select her, after effectively neutering the Clinton machine.
The Clintons are old news, past history, and Obama is all about the future (as he sees it anyway).
Weaseley Clark will probably not make the cut, if only because he is one of many reliable sets of eyes and ears for the Clintons.
Don’t rule out a surprise thought: Colin Powell.
McPeak would guarantee every current and ex-USAF would vote for (and donate $$ to) McCain!
Dems... I believe it's much shorter than 20 - it's about a 100!
My sh#t list.
That’s the one list she definitely belongs on.
