The Change America Deserves
Rep. John Boehner's website ^ | May 16, 2008 | Rep. John Boehner

Posted on 05/20/2008 5:17:31 AM PDT by Eagle of Liberty

Washington is broken. You need look no further than $4 per gallon for gas to see how political gamesmanship in Washington is impacting your life. Two years ago, congressional Democrats promised “change” but what we’ve seen instead is business-as-usual.

Just recently, lawmakers in the U.S. House killed an effort to remove from the Farm Bill three special provisions that would benefit a ski resort in Vermont, the San Francisco salmon industry and forest fish in Montana. And congressional Democrats have just introduced yet another tax hike -- $54 billion on small businesses – to bankroll more Washington spending.

I don’t believe this was the change the American people were expecting, and it’s become increasingly clear that the promises made two years ago have been broken. The renowned journalist Edward R. Murrow once said, “Our major obligation is not to mistake slogans for solutions.” Middle class families are tired of political rhetoric, tired of politicians talking about what they’re going do and tired of seeing promise after promise broken for political expediency.

Seventeen months ago, House Republicans embarked on a new journey to revive the common-sense conservative principles that built our party up after years in the wilderness. These principles speak to families struggling to make ends meet after filling up their cars, workers concerned about their jobs remaining here and to those who believe that their elected officials just aren’t listening.

We are listening. And we’re responding with an agenda that addresses those concerns.

No, I don't feel like going away just yet. Especially since we are having so much fun!

I'm in shock that we agree on something (Fred). But at least I realized when he got out of the race that his chance was over. "Give me Fred or give me death" just didn't have a good ring to it. McCain was close to the bottom of my list, but he gets some of the important issues right. Although not 10, I can see that 5 is greater than 1.

How are you going to look a soldier in the face and tell them that you didn't see any difference between McCain and the Democrat while they were off in another country doing their job? Do you think the average soldier doesn't see any difference between McCain and a Democrat? Are you finally starting to see something here?

Do you think the average soldier doesn't see any difference between McCain and a Democrat? Are you finally starting to see something here?

How are you going to look that soldier in the eye and tell him that voting straight GOP, regardless of the various policies of its candidate is always in his best interest?

And I never said I didn't see ANY difference between McCain or the Democrats, I said "There is arguably little difference between McCain on several issues and Hillary Clinton". Those similarities are significant enough to me to take my stance.

I'm not starting to see anything. You've been very clear and blunt (rudely so) all along. I've known where you've been coming from. But I'm not intimidated by rudness nor crass behavior.

I also know I've not has my "ass" handed to me. The only way you will have won is if I'd acceded to your viewpoint. I haven't done that so, you've lost the argument. Sorry.

Now I really do have to run.

Several posters have philosophically cleaned your clock on this thread. The whole string is here for everyone to see...nothing is hidden.

I would gladly vote for a Democrat over a Republican, providing the Democrat was the more conservative of the two. But besides a local sheriff, I haven't been given that opportunity yet.

You can piss away your vote as often as you wish, but I'm going to do everything I can to show you as an example of what not to do. Face it, you have an all-or-nothing political mentality which means you are your only perfect candidate (and you are not running).

It's nothing personal....several of us just took the opportunity you gave us to draw a stark contrast between our intentions and yours.

If you haven't already, go read "Conservatives Will Regret Putting Dems in Power", by Tony Blankley. It's from 2006, but Tony nails the point.

Finally, if you honestly think I've been rude, you might want to find another hobby.

Funny, I don’t see it that way. You appear to be a bully. I’m disappointed when I read insulting posts on Freepers. I expect a higher level of discourse.

but I can work with him.

You can? Really? Can't wait to see that in action.

That’s the goal: get the one closest to our views elected and commence the beatings until he sees it our way.

Here is the problem with your statement. We continue to hold on to hope that we will be noticed. In the meantime, we continue to give away our votes and then get told that we are the problem BY THE REPUBLICANS THAT WE SUPPORT. This is eerily similar to the way that a majority of blacks blindly support Democrats. Until these cycles are broken, we will continue to be used.

Several posters have philosophically cleaned your clock on this thread. The whole string is here for everyone to see...nothing is hidden.

Nothing hidden? Why would I care? Actually, I have every post between myself and all of you on this thread in Microsoft Word format. Both your latest post and this response will be included once I finish. I've nothing to hide. Why would you suggest I do?

You can piss away your vote as often as you wish, but I'm going to do everything I can to show you as an example of what not to do.

You're going to use me as an example? Is that a threat? It seems to come close to one. It's beginning to sound like harassment. Especially now that I've brought it to your attention, and should you keep this up.

It's nothing personal....several of us just took the opportunity you gave us to draw a stark contrast between our intentions and yours.

Nothing personal? After saying "I'm going to do everything I can to show you as an example of what not to do"? Uh, huh. Why the need to draw a start contrast? I believe that contrast has been evident for all to see without any amplification on your (or other's) part. I'm not afraid of others knowing my views. But it seems to me all this attention you throw my way is a form of whistling past the graveyard...

Finally, if you honestly think I've been rude, you might want to find another hobby.

Oh, you've been rude. But I don't care. I'm not thin skinned. I've just pointed it out. You see, I've won, you've lost. The bottom line is, I've not changed my view, I'm still not going to vote for McCain, so you've lost. All you've accomplished is a display of belligerence instead of debate.

You're getting yourself in somewhat deeper than I suspect you intended. I suggest you back off, take a breath, and go on to other things. You'll not change my mind, and further posts of this nature will indeed come close to harassment.

"I vote for policy not the party. I will NOT vote for McCain."

So do I. My policy is to do whatever is necessary to keep the Democrats out of power.

Go ahead, stand there and cower while our position is overrun. Treason, cowardice and selfish hubris hurt us all.

Hope we don't wind up in POW camp together...

You and all the other who’ve ranted against me keep missing the obvious point in all this. But that’s your problem, not mine.

Oh, and this isn’t cowering. Far from it. Judging by your collective anger, I’d say you all may be projecting somewhat when using such terms.

Several posters have philosophically cleaned your clock on this thread.

See the title of this thread? It's the latest pathetic slogan from the RINO's. It's choirpreach, a steaming pile designed to attract the flies....    oops, I meant the McCainiacs who don't have the spine to see they're being taken for granted.

No drone, no mindless Party groupie, will ever clean the clock of someone with the courage and intellect to leave the Plantation.

By the way, your bullshit about you drones are the ones who care for the Troops is just that - bullshit. McCain is a pinko.  Global warming is a scam, he wants to tax you and regulate you over something that does not exist, and that means only one thing - he's a thief. He's a Socialist or a Communist or whatever ist you choose to call him, but he's an Orwellian nightmare for the GOP. Well, change that. The whole Party is Orwellian. Only fools choose to remain in it.

We now return you to our regularly scheduled  propaganda group grope.

The real fool is the one who lets the worst leader take control, then expects an automatic resurgence of the opposition. (Read the tag line!)

As a conservative, McCain stinks. BUT, he is still a better choice than either of the Dem possibilities. That is unless you believe in all or nothing. I and many other FReepers here understand principles vs pragmatism and when to apply each.

A threat??? Harassment??? How pathetic!!! I'm merely an entity typing words on a screen...just like you. That reminds me of the way Obama claims he is being attacked when people take issue with his positions. In some ways, you have made an example out of yourself. I guess that means you have threatened and harassed yourself too.

Now that's the dumbest response I've ever read. Really. But typical of a McCainiac.

Your fearless leader is courting Democrats in order to gain the Presidency while thumbing his nose at the GOP conservative base. And you believe those conservatives like myself are traitors for not going along with his self-serving, patronizing crap.

McCain is going to sell out the American public with his global warming idiocy John Stossel: McCain Finds His Crisis in Global Warming. And his long-term embrace of amnesty and multiculturalism will change the nature and demographics of this country forever. You claim to be for the troops. Well, just what kind of a country will be left for them to return to once YOUR MAN gets his hands on the power of the Presidency?

You're the fool here, boy. Grow up and get a life. Be a man. Have some testicular fortitude for once in your miserable life. You're just a pathetic McCain groupie who's nose ring is permanently attached to a political turncoat.

Every time you post, I can just smell the fear coming from your keyboard. It's nauseating.

I’m tired of being “threatened” with the prospect of a Democrat 2/3 majority. If that’s what it takes to wake up this country (and especially the Republican Party) then so be it.

That was all well and good in 1992, but in this era of Islamic extremists, I frankly don't want Democrats anywhere NEAR a super-majority in Congress, or the White House, for that matter. They are just TOO weak on National Security.

If conservatives want Congress changed, we'll have to work to get individual conservative Congressmen and women elected from our districts and Senators from our states.

Let's analyze this.....

Now that's the dumbest response I've ever read. Really. But typical of a McCainiac.

I thought you weren't a name caller. And, for clarification, is anyone who votes for McCain a McCainiac?

Your fearless leader is courting Democrats in order to gain the Presidency while thumbing his nose at the GOP conservative base. And you believe those conservatives like myself are traitors for not going along with his self-serving, patronizing crap.

He is not my leader, merely the candidate I would vote for if the election were held today. Never called you a traitor.

No doubt...McCain and either Democrat believe in MMGW and amnesty. But I am not a single issue voter. And I also know there is actually a chance McCain will moderate his position on these issues, while neither of the Dems will ever, ever, ever change their position. And I believe whatever dire picture you paint of the US under a McCain presidency will be much worse under Obama or Hillary. They will make sure our troops come home losers.

You're the fool here, boy. Grow up and get a life. Be a man. Have some testicular fortitude for once in your miserable life. You're just a pathetic McCain groupie who's nose ring is permanently attached to a political turncoat.

Even if I had the title of "Rudest FReeper", you just won it from me in a landslide. No substance here...just a lot of emoting. It shows how weak your argument is when you have to make me a "McCain groupie". A simple review of my previous post on FR would reveal to you how much I detest McCain. That doesn't mean I'm not willing to swallow my pride and vote for him if he is the best available.

Every time you post, I can just smell the fear coming from your keyboard. It's nauseating.

I have no doubt you smell something, but it isn't fear and it isn't me.

Huh? Someone of such towering intellect can’t see the point?

You wail about those of us with principles, your point being to toss principles out the window, and within 24 hours one of the GOP’s biggest RINO’s is pandering to the perverts, and at a Greenfece style gathering, no less. Only a mindless groupie couldn’t see how not having principles opens the door to anything and everything.

Look at what you’re doing to America, what you’re aiding and abetting.

Now hurry back with your little slogan. And wipe your chin.
