Terri Schiavo's Family Calls for Observance of Terri's Day to Honor Disabled Woman

St. Petersburg, FL (LifeNews.com) -- Terri Schiavo's family and a leading pro-life group are calling on people to honor the disabled woman whose husband took her life in a painful euthanasia death. Together with Priests for Life, the Schindler family has established the observance of “Terri’s Day” each March 31.

That's the day Terri succumbed to a 13-day starvation and dehydration death at the hand of Michael Schiavo, her former husband who won a court order to take her life.

“This third anniversary should be an occasion for all of us to both remember the injustice done to Terri, and reach out to others with prayer and concrete action when they need the kind of help Terri needed," Terri's brother Bobby Schindler told LifeNews.com on Monday.

Suzanne Vitadamo, Terri’s sister, added that Terri's Day is also a way for her family to encourage others to take better care of the elderly and disabled.

“Our family continues to be consoled and uplifted by the many ways in which people honor my sister, learn from her story, and grow in compassion for all the disabled," she said.

During the days leading up to Terri's death, Father Frank Pavone of Priests for Life brought comfort and peace to the Schindler family.

Father Pavone was present for the final prayer Terri participated in before her death. He also saw the manipulative ways Michael tried to prevent the Schindler family from caring for her or being present with her during the starvation and dehydration.

“Terri’s death was not the end of her fight," he told LifeNews.com. "It was the beginning of a new chapter in the pro-life movement."

"I call upon all those who were moved by Terri’s death to continue their courageous activism in the cause of life, and never to be silent," he said.

Together, Priests for Life and the Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation encourage churches, families, organizations and individuals to observe Terri’s Day with prayers, memorial services, educational activities and community outreach.

Nobody would choose death by dehydration - a horrible way to die. Yet this was done to Terri.

Some of the scientific experiments fit in with all this - a large ear “grown” on the arm of a performance artist; Joyclyen Wildenstein made to looke like a lion; etc.

The History Channel had a show today regarding Stalin's experiments to make a hybrid ape/human so he could have armies of hybrids who didn't care what they ate, were strong and just killing machines. He paid a scientist today's equivalent of $100,000 to do the experiment. There are myths about ape people in Russia and I had to go to the store so I don't know how the show ended.

Today's Tampa Tribune on another note documented a death march of Armenians into the Syrian desert long before the Holocaust. They made Armenians walk into the desert and then they left them there to die.

History's not pretty. Neither is modern China.

I saw the Vatican Splendors Exhibit recently. One ancient painting depicted Peter hanging upside down on the cross he was crucified on. Man's inhumanity to man exists today.

This is the first I heard of Stalin’s experiment. History Channel has some interesting programs. I saw a show about the problem of gangs, many of them foreignes, in our military.

Another trick used by the Soviet Union and others is resettlement, and concomitant use of soldiers completely alien to the area in times of unrest and evil intent to attack. For example if a force like the Soviets would wish to attack us, they may have Asians in the northern climates, northerners in the south, ones so different from the target population they would show no pity. I would show no deep concern if a contingent of northern Europeans moved in nearby but would show alarm if the same were from North Korea. In resettlement, they would move out local populations to an unfamiliar place, and move in prepared and more trusted into the houses vacated. It breaks local community cohesion.

Still too early to count her as a candidate for the craft of the death dealers, with the label of PVS, we realize the vultures are already perched on her bed post.

.........................

After Silapiruti’s car was struck by a drunk driver on March 2, Barniak has spent as many days as financially possible with Silapiruti and her family. After about a month in intensive care, 23-year-old Silapiruti was transferred to a nursing home but is now back in the hospital in a “persistent, vegetative state,” Barniak said.

Silapiruti was just a week back from studying abroad in Paris for a semester when her car was hit head-on at 56th Street and Kessler Boulevard in her hometown of Indianapolis. Severe brain injuries keep Silapiruti from communicating with anyone, but her eyes remain open.

While her family and friends set up court dates and battle legal issues with organizing a fund in her name, Silapiruti rests in the hospital in Indianapolis. Her mother is constantly nearby while her father works to try to support the family.

Another of Silapiruti’s friends, Macey Thompson, is part of the constant support provided by Silapiruti’s mother Ponsawan. Thompson compared Silapiruti’s condition to Terri Schiavo, a woman whose condition was subject to much debate after she lived dependent on a feeding tube for seven years before she died. Silapiruti is also on a feeding tube and suffers from a lot of brain damage, she said................

Absolutely wrong...

Absolute obsolete, only if you believe compilations of Bible bashers who offer clues from the clueless...

Bah for the U. of M.

two weeks ago today, St. James' Street published a controversial piece titled "How to throw away the Bible?" that was met with hostility, praise and well-constructed rebuttals. Overall, we concede the piece attempted to say too much via an editorial, and our arguments became somewhat diluted and feral. It is a central theme of our column to spur intellectual civil discourse and seek an objective truth on the issues of which we write. When the integrity of this column is challenged, we either aggressively defend our position or thank those who point out the inferiority of our stance. "How to throw away the Bible?" unintentionally printed an incorrect suggestion of the idea of the Immaculate Conception, and for that, those who brought this mistake to public attention need to be recognized. Be that as it may, some key concepts of "How to throw away the Bible?" need to be reiterated and, this time, better defended.

~Snip~

When Romans or the story of Sodom and Gomorrah declares the moral error of homosexuality, Christians turn gays into sinners, and might even suggest a constitutional ban on gay marriage. When Luke talks of birth and conception, Christians call young mothers who have abortions murderers. And when Ecclesiastes, 1 Corinthians and Hebrews speak that only God has the power to take away life, euthanasia (as seen in the Terri Schiavo case)(bold mine) becomes an issue not to be decided by humans. But when Exodus 21:7 sanctions fathers selling their daughters into slavery, the Christians fall silent. When Exodus 35:2 clearly states that those who work on the Sabbath should be put to death, the Christians fall silent. And when James 5:14-16 suggests that children only remain sick because they have not gone through the necessary rituals to heal their sins, the Christians fall silent.

Despite that, "How to throw away the Bible?" was viewed primarily as Bible bashing, it was never our original intention. The intention was to show that the Bible is the source of Christianity's heterogeneity. We suggest that the problems of clashing civilizations need to be combated by a philosophy of toleration to those who are tolerant. All cultures have texts and tales that attempt to make sense of an often malevolent, cold or simply misunderstood existence. Religion has helped build societal frameworks, inspire civic ideologies and is responsible for countless acts of social work...........

An absolute Bible harms absolutely

Lauren Richardson...

These words come from one of the Terri blogs and sites. Please note that the grass roots site of Alan Keyes has been a great source of Terri-related information and opinions. They even have a logo of Terri on the top article. We are hard pressed to find a better friend of Terri fighters anywhere, and Alan Keyes is it. Compare that for which he stands to any of the Marx brothers candidates proffered for our choice as leaders into the darkness of socialism. Back to the point, Renew America lists the many Terri-relates sites as links. One of these is Justice for Terri Schiavo:

From One Mother to Another

March 31, 2008 marked the third year since the senseless death of Terri Schiavo. I have not forgotten! I was told that someone had made the comment that since Terri Schiavo has been dead for three years why don't I turn all my attention to cases such as Lauren Richardson's.

I have but one answer:

If everyone who fought to save Terri Schiavo from her court ordered execution suddenly stopped reminding the public of the injustice Terri and her biological family [the Schindlers] suffered at the hands of a county probate judge, there would be no way to stop the wanton killing of others who have been judged on their quality of life.

Yes, my heart goes out to Lauren, Edith [her biological mother], and Randy [her biological father] , just as it would go out to any one mentally pushed to destroying ones own child as Edith has thus far decided should be her daughter's fate.. This is not a case of a son-in-law seeking to destroy the life that was created inside Mary Schindlers' womb.....The Lauren Richardson  case is about a mother, who like all mothers who love the children they bear, having to accept her failures as well as her acomplishments as a mother, and the bearer of human life.

As a mother who raised six daughters, and lost one of them at the age of 22 years, my heart goes out to Edith. When my daughter was suddenly, without warning, taken from me my heart was burdened. And I continue to think back to times, as a mother, I could have did things a little differently. But thinking back does not, and cannot, bring my daughter back.

I can't tell Edith what to do. She is Lauren's mother. She brought Lauren into the world. But I can tell her that if my daughter had lived, I would have protected her right to the life I had given her without thinking. Because I know how much my daughter loved her life.

My daughter left no child but if she had brought a baby into the world as did Lauren, after her accident- I would still be thanking God until this day for both lives.

I will not involve myself in the case, because the one who gave Lauren life is in control of the life that was created inside her womb. I 'm a mother, too.Even though my own views on the issue are closer to those of Lauren's dad Randy. I would ask Edith to PROTECT the life she gave to Lauren, as she watches over the small child Lauren gave life to.

I'm sorry for your pain but your daughter is still alive and she needs you, Edith.

New City, NY (LifeNews.com) -- A local abortion center in a northern suburb of New York City has closed as a result of the recent 40 Days for Life campaign. The Abortion Services facility in the New City, New York was one of more than 50 abortion centers across the nation that saw prayer vigils during the spring event.

Whitehouse, OH (LifeNews.com) -- High school students in a Toledo suburb were threatened with having to skip prom and other senior graduation events if they didn't remove their pro-life T-shirts. A group of students had planned to draw attention to the destruction of human life in abortion until school officials got upset.

The students wore matching T-shirts with the message, "Abortion is homicide" but the April 21st coordinated event drew the ire of school administrators.

TORONTO, April 25, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - On Friday April 19, missing half a day of school wasn't the only thing on my mind, like it would have been for any other grade eight student, but instead, I was sitting in class counting down the minutes to meeting an amazing and inspirational pro-lifer, National Director of Priests for Life, Father Frank Pavone. Little did I know that the weekend ahead of me would confirm my call to the pro-life movement.

Knowing that I was one of the three who had the privilege of picking up Father Frank from the airport made me even more anxious than I already was, just knowing that I was going to meet him! From the airport, we took Father Pavone to The Cabbagetown Women's Clinic, an abortion clinic in downtown Toronto, where we met up with other pro-life members in the community....

From the Pope...

Thread by wagglebee.

...Unfortunately, it seems that the "culture of death" is advancing on many fronts and is also threatening the season of old-age. With growing insistence, people are even proposing euthanasia as a solution for resolving certain difficult situations. Old age, with its problems that are also linked to the new family and social contexts because of modern development, should be evaluated carefully and always in the light of the truth about man, the family and the community. It is always necessary to react strongly to what dehumanizes society. Parish and diocesan communities are forcefully challenged by these problems and are seeking today to meet the needs of the elderly. Ecclesial movements and associations exist which have embraced this important and urgent cause. It is necessary to join forces to defeat together all forms of marginalization, for it is not only they - grandfathers, grandmothers, senior citizens - who are being injured by the individualistic mindset, but everyone. If grandparents, as is said often and on many sides, are a precious resource, it is necessary to put into practice coherent choices that allow them to be better valued....

SPEAKING OF REV. WRIGHT. I caught a snippet last night. It didn’t quell the liberation theology he peddles. He said as fact that whites are left brained and blacks are right brained, i.e. creative. What a crock! I’m a right brained white person. Wright is DIVISIVE AND a bigger race baiter than Sharpton! Obama needs to lose the dem nomination. His friends are radical, race baiters. Birds of a feather! (your right brained friend, FV)

MSM is trying to turn Wright into a celebrity. Did you hear some of the pundits praise him?

Hillary/McCain/Obama are not qualified for POTUS. Each one would be a disaster. Some Democrats are talking about getting Al Gore or somebody else to run with Obama as VP. IMO, not much of chance that.

If there was a poll who talks like a Christian, Wright or Pope Benedict, Pope Benedict would win. Wright imo is a false prophet. Barack Obama never entertained Wright’s warped theology and he had 2 years to find a better pastor but he did not. Obama wants to be prez but he doesn’t have the right stuff at all. He doesn’t belong in the white house.
