Oh yea, screw michael faraday. We should all make our own electricity. Isn’t the point of alternating current that we can just hook up and energize or supply with little loss of efficiency? And we don’t have to have those crappy panels all over the place.

Geothermal, on the other hand, is where its at . . . literally. No grid required.

Dee Boyle-Clapp is de worst kind. That aside, these flakes may serve a purpose in moving solar power along to wherever it will eventually fit in.

Not to knock Mr Clapp, but there are a couple of mis-conceptions here. First, covering 125,000 square miles with a solar farm in arizona actually ADDS to global warming, can you see why? Second, it is naive to think solar electricity will replace fossil fuels, it will just be in ADDITION to other energy sources. The instant you use energy(higher to lower Potential energy level via Kinetic energy)it becomes WASTE HEAT/entropy, and the only way the biosphere gets rid of heat is by T^4 radiation to space.

Thus all this talk of energy SOURCES is slanted the wrong way. Keep ADDING new energy via human use and before you know it, the outside temp becomes 150 deg F. Instead of ADDING to the problem, INSULATE as best you can, reduce your energy useage as much as possible. Saint Peter says this age ends in FIRE, give everyone(7 billion people)whole atomic bombs worth of energy to play with, and it WILL...FAST!

How many people do you think this planet can sustain?

Don’t give me an argument, just give me an answer.
It’s still economics, no matter how you look at it.

It'll run about $10,000-$12,000 for batteries, PV panels and an inverter, with another $3,000-4,000 to install

Shucks, what's $16,000 if it's going to save the environment? What was the cost of that propane use again? Oh, and that wood burner? Not in California you won/t, they're on their way out.

And what was the expected life of the batteries and how much to replace them? Oh, and how are they going to be disposed of when dead?

Solar is the way to go - get off oil, then tell the sheiks to go pound sand.

In order to go solar, everyone north of the latitude of say........St.Louis, would have to relocate south of that line.

But this is not about saving money. This is about saving something else.

'The planet is in crisis, trying to shake us off like fleas

I wonder where his solar panels were made?

The effectiveness of the Alexander Technique has not been thoroughly verified in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

My guess is that it hasn't been addressed at all in any research that is being conducted for future inclusion in a peer-reviewed journal.

I note that the description of the "technique" doesn't actually contain any concrete details on what it is, or what it is supposed to accomplish. It looks like the same kind of mystical, new age, hippy "thinking" that was foisted upon me while I was growing up, that I learned to detest thoroughly.

I have some of the first Whole Earth catalogs, they were talking about “off the grid” back when facepaint and bellbottoms were popular, and people lived in domes.

Very few are willing or able to put up with the “off the grid” lifestyle.
