Using Propane doesn't fit with his energy-independence image.

Heh, his wife had him on the first date. Their concessions mean nothing.
It's all about feeeeeling good, not the results. they pollute as much as
anyone else with their wood burning, propane use, and most likely trash burning.
They must have many dirty little secrets in private, but in the public
they're good little tree hugging enviro-wackos.

True Rat Blooded Hypocrites.

American Society for the Alexander Technique (AmSAT)
www.amsat.ws

Dee Boyle-Clapp, Executive Administrator

The American Society for the Alexander Technique is the largest professional association of certified Alexander Technique teachers in the United States. The Alexander Technique is a proven, effective way to promote wellness and optimize functioning by eliminating body misuse in everyday activities. AmSATs mission is to define, maintain, and promote the Alexander Technique at its highest standard of professional practice and conduct.

The Alexander Technique is a form of education that is applied to recognize and overcome reactive, habitual limitations in movement and thinking.

Some regard the Alexander Technique as a first-hand experience of the reality of body/mind unity.

undoing old habits may trigger possibly unpleasant “unresolved” emotions that originally were the basis for the development of the subject’s habitual remedies. Through release of these habitual remedies, an adjustment of other facets of the person may be neccessary - sometimes involving medical practictioners

The effectiveness of the Alexander Technique has not been thoroughly verified in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Unfortunately for me a five year plan has just begun that eventuates with me living off the grid.

Have you checked out the publications available from Sandia National Labs? They have some good stuff that is neither too technical nor whacko. Not terribly current, but it should give you a good start.

And it's already been paid for with your tax dollars.

http://photovoltaics.sandia.gov/

Grab the “Publications” menu and you can download a list of the available docs. I have hard copies, but I think they are all available on the web these days.

GOOD LUCK!

“You can still feel good about lessening your carbon footprint.”

This is what it’s all about - feeling good - relieving your guilt.

You’ve got to give it to the environazis, they’ve done a superb job of instilling guilt in the sheeples, and now, like a priest at a confessional, they can impose any penance they wish on the flock.

Good finds

I'm so used to this stuff, I don't even blink an eyelash anymore.

Western MA was once republican turf.

It's now 75% moonbat. (Howie Carr's term for this area)

I found his house. 940 Chesterfield Rd Florence, MA 01062-9707

Look at all the clear cutting for that loooong driveway, and firewood.
I wonder how much fuel he uses to cut all that grass. I could go on
but he's not worth it. John Edwards would be proud.

Propane is good for cooking.

If the electricity I use to heat starts to cost more than 14 cents per kWh, or propane starts to cost less than $1.25 per gallon, I'll keep cooking with propane and heating with electricity.

I found these the two comments on the article in the Gazette:

The sky is falling...the sky is falling

You should depend on the government for all your needs.

Why be self-reliant?

The money you save will only be taxed from you to support those not fortunate enough to own 65 acres.

PaulJohnson Saturday, Mar 08, 2008 at 11:11 PM

"Chicken Little" is the source of the "sky is falling."

Actually, the only thing that is falling are roofs in Maine and NH ...from too much snow.

Coldest and snowiest winter on record.

We have only 8 more years.

The sky is falling...

I'll start by saying passive solar for homes is actually a pretty cost effective way to heat. That said, the notion of 'off the grid' is silly. Just because you are not connected to a utility does not mean you are not utterly dependent on the existence of a high-tech civilization down the road.

What happens if the triple-pane low-e glass used in the home breaks, which eventually it will. Cavemen can't make that. What happens when the generator breaks down? If you heat with wood, what happens when your last chainsaw breaks. Are you prepared to cut with at two man saw?

"Off the grid" is an illusion of independence that may give comfort to some. But if civilization falls apart, that last chainsaw blade is going to be gone pretty fast.

You should depend on the government for all your needs.

It's a rude awakening sometimes when you see for yourself that people
really do think that way. Just daaamn.

May I suggest the Clapps "chill out" (pun intended) and start drinking a different kind of beverage other than this one, which is apparently, a staple in their diet.......

Global Warming:

Record snowfalls mean big meltdown

The U.S. winter of 2007-08 — which meteorologists classify as the months of December, January and February — will go down as the coldest since the winter of 2000-01, with a national average temperature of 33.2 degrees, NOAA reported Thursday.

I notice the three woodstove chimneys punching thru his roof from that side view of his home. Three woodburners @ an average of 50,000 BTU each heats his house, not solar. He does not generate enough solar to even power his refrigerator.

" ... The planet is in crisis, trying to shake us off like fleas,' said Boyle-Clapp. 'We may have no more than eight years to turn this around. The ice shelves are ready to go. This is today. It's not science fiction - this is really happening ... "

Wasn't a bad article until I read that, and got rather ill.

I do think those people need to get on a floe.
