It was. That happens when the fuses are damaged or not set properly. Too many rides in the trunk of the SAAB station wagon. LOL.

It IS an in the can detonation, the explosive flash comes out of the morter tube microseconds before blowing up the morter and its feeder. You can freeze frame the video and see it. For that to be an external hit, the incoming round would have had to thread that small morter tube, highly unlikely. But a sniper round into the base of the tube might set of the explosive, that might have happened but again , unlikely. Allah definitely took one home!

I got this on an E mail from a friend a few days ago and his had a note on it that said that US has the ability to trace where the mortar fire is coming from in about three shots and then they follow the trajectory back to its source with our firepower. Yes, we do.

There are two systesm

One acoustic -— listening devices that are set out -— “hear” the report and can triangulate on the source based on the differences between when they “heard” the report -— not great with motors as the report is not very loud (better with snipers).

Another, is radar-based. It tracks the parabala of the shell and the computer can track back the shell to the source.

I still stand by my opinion that this was counter-battery fire -— the explosion is just too big for a mortor (unless his entire “magazine” went up).

The explosion seeming to “come from” the tube can be explained by the fact that is EXACTLy where the incoming shell would land with a good shot.
