The GOP is pursuing it’s own agenda and it obviously doesn’t really care about conservative values.
Just look at the ones who are heavily supported by the GOP and the RNC.

My take is that losing an election or two is chump change to the K street boys.
They don’t care that much and their agenda is pretty close to most of the dems except for details on how to get there from here.

The sad part is that the very influential conservative talk show hosts will have been the critical deciding factor. According to Michelle Malkin this morning, 10% of the Texas and Ohio voters were GOP crossovers. In my opinion, the crossovers driven by the conservative media were enough to give Hillary both states.

They (the talk show hosts) were saying that Obama should be knocked off first because he's the most difficult to defeat and the most dangerous. Then they would go after Clinton. Well, now they'll get both on the same ticket.

What I can't understand for the life of me is that for 8 years that Bill was in office, they went after him and Hillary with both barrels blazing and now when we finally had Hillary on the ropes and the opportunity to shut the white house door on her and her husband, they come to her rescue.

Then, a light, just like in the commercials, goes on above my head and I started connecting the dots. I asked myself, why would even the most ardent anti-Hillary conservative media and public figures all of a sudden do a 180 degree and either outright endorse her or urge the audience to engage in cross over voting. It couldn't be a coincidence that the timing was almost synchronized, it had to be planned but by whom?

Well, which of the two Democratic candidates has a political machine built up during 8 years of power in the White House? Which candidate has a long trail of dead and injured people behind them? Which candidate has a history of having wreaked financial ruin on their opponents and critics through the IRS and other governmental agencies? Which candidate has a stable of attorneys that are nothing more than thugs, at their back and call and have been and still are part of their organization?

To me, the answer to my question as to why the overwhelming Hillary support all of a sudden over the airwaves is, the Clinton thugs got to them. Either their careers, family or personal secrets were threatened and it was too high a price to pay and they folded, right on cue. It was not a coincidence!!!

People don’t vote based on VP. Sometimes they vote AGAINST VPs. There are democrats who won’t vote for a woman, and democrats who won’t vote for a black. Put the two together, and it’s insurmountable. The white male democrats will SAY they are voting for the Clinton/Obama ticket, but they won’t pull the lever for them — ESPECIALLY when they have John McCain, the “maverick” to vote for.

The only way a Clinton/Obama ticket COULD win is if our candidate was perceived as so far to the right that the democratic moderate male white voter simply couldn’t bring themselves to vote for our guy.

If it was as easy as just putting the two candidates together, there wouldn’t be much of a fight. It didn’t work for Kerry/Edwards. If it made sense, we’d see it much more often, but in fact it rarely happens.

That has also been my fear. I was against helping Hillary win in Texas and Ohio because I wanted her out as soon as possible. Now she has a good chance of winning the nomination and with Obama added to the ticket by the DNC I fear McCain would not win in November.

You are absolutely right. I don't think Clinton and Obama would have many choices except to form a ticket. That would force McCain to put either a woman or a minority (or both in one package) on his ticket, probably further alienating all those "real" conservatives out there who need very little incentive to get all disgruntled.

McCain is an exceptionally weak candidate under the best of circumstances. Up against a powerhouse Clinton-Obama (or Obama-Clinton) ticket, I don't see how he wins even if every last Republican and conservative goes out and votes for him -- and we know he won't be able to get close to a 100% Republican/conservative turnout.

With those two in office, the country is going to take a tremendous swing to the left like nothing we have ever seen before. Ultimately, that will be a swing downhill.
