Aside from my deep dislike of McCain, he is not a popular Republican (disliked by conservatives),the Repubs are in power and the economy is in recession, he is linked to an unpopular Repub president, he is pro-nafta (this will hurt him in the Mid-West especially Ohio) and he is 72 years old. People may not admit it, but age will be a factor in this race. I don’t know anyone who is truly enthusiastic about McCain. Dems are chomping at the bit. The Dem primary vote has been two and sometimes three times the norm. It feels like a Dole year. I just pray that Hillary is not the elected President in the end.

These 2 on a ticket would be a hanging softball for McCain to knock out of the park with a little conservatism. He's probably not smart enough to realize that though.

Not only that, but if any on McCain's staff even swung at the pitch, he would probably fire them.
