Attractive, 20 yo blonde women should NOT, repeat, NOT be in Bagdad.

Any attractive woman who gets raped is asking for it.

Your statement may be the most ridiculous sentence ever posted on Free Republic. Feel free to explain or apologize.

Of course, we aren’t talking about the military, with its discipline.

Perhaps you’re unaware of how disdainful your supposition about “consensual until the tips were too small,” and the implication that most women aren’t raped, so she must be lying and at fault.

Even if your experiences do make you think so poorly of women, in this case there is an honorable man as a witness, “Toothbrush Poe.”

I’m pretty sure it was satire.

I’m pretty sure it was satire.

When it comes to this particular subject, 1) satire is not an appropriate frequency on which to operate, and 2) if it is satire, it needs to be noted with certainty.

I am with you Paradox, this looks very bad for the parties mentioned.
I cannot believe that Congressman Poe would be this involved if it were a hoax.
I can see no reason to slander this young woman and accuse her of lying. It sounds like a dreadful ordeal and I will reserve judgement until this can be vetted further.

Hmmm... cellphones wouldn’t work from inside of a shipping container...

Wrong! I've had cellphone reception inside a submarine when I was in port near the hatch (within about 15 feet). All she would have to do would be near the door.

Well, she could have been deceived by whomever inprocessed her. And the Dubai hotel is possible because KBR would block-lease rooms for in and out processing. Someone might have missed his flight.

t's too bad. I was in the IZ (aka Greenzone) at that time but don't recall seeing her. Then again she was only there for 2 days! I don't know if it happened or not but since she had co-workers and other women were (in her locale) there she should be able to substantiate it. The whole part about not being assigned a female room seems bogus. I know KBR had a slim IT team but they were stationed at large areas, all of which had female trailer areas. The IZ has always had female-only trailers and areas and she talks as if it was some giant barracks. I don't recall there being any barracks in the IZ. The closest were converted Iraqi buildings.

I'm not saying she isn't accurate but she's got a lot to substantiate and with only 2 days in theater that's gonna be tough. Some ppl get there and flip out and run back home claiming X happened to them. Seen it before. I mean why is she socializing and drinking with these men if she feels uncomfortable there?

I don't think there are too many laws that existed there either at that time. PPL are really 'out there' in Iraq as contractors which is why character and morals are so important. All in all I"m not convinced. Who wants to risk a 150K/year job and civil liabilities over this? Occam's razor says people are generally well behaved in the criminal sense of the word in Iraq. Scumbags, sure, like 80% but criminal? Likely not. No one risks that pay and their career over that. I.e., all they work for over there would be lost in civil suits against them. Which is probably why she's going after KBR.

We'll see how it goes. But partying with all men on the 2nd night there when she feels uncomfortable about an all-male barracks, c'mon. And why send e-mails to corporate when there's a KBR housing office in the IZ which handles all housing assignments? They would have given her the room in the first place. Of course this doesn't preclude that whomever inprocessed her didn't 'set her up' from the start. Otherwise why wasn't she taken to KBR housing?

Should we execute the accused before or after they are tried and the evidence is reviewed?

Of course I assume a trial and conviction.

Just like in the Duke Unversity case?

I’m not saying the assault didn’t happen. I’m also not saying it did.

I just like to have evidence before I begin howling for blood. How about you?

This story has a stink of biblical proportions.

It does, but I think the stink is from people who may well have committed a horrific crime, covered it up, then are using legal mumbo-jumbo to escape responsibility.

There are bad people working for every company in the world, including Halliburton. If this story is true, anyone responsible for the crime or cover-up should fry. And if there was a perception that contractors could get away with this sort of thing without being subject to U.S. law, then it wouldn't surprise me at all that something like this happened.

Frankly, I hope this story is false, because nobody should have to go through this and then find out that their ability to get justice was limited by arcane rules. If it's true and hurts our side of the political aisle, well, that happens sometime. We'll survive--and seeing justice done is more important than ensuring that the politicians we agree with look their absolute best in the media.

“and of course, she immediately goes on 20/20 and the propaganda media to tell her story. I’m suspicious of her motives.”

It happened a couple of years ago. If she is to believe, presumably she is seeking the attention now because KBR wants this in arbitration where her story would never see the light of day.

She also says she graduated from high school at 16. Her writing skills seem to be at the level of someone who dropped out of high school at 16. I wonder if she was home schooled.

I’ll admit it, the only girls I know with breast implants are either strippers,”entertainers”, bikini models or wealthy moms on their second husband.Yes I’ve heard of girls that get them for a “graduation present”, but never met one.The girls who “work “ for them have to save (or have a sponsor) $4000-10000 to get em’ in the ballpark with a good job. This is all very odd.As for home schooling I think not, all the home schoolers I know excell at
topics, including language and critical thinking. The public schoolers these days are not even comprehending their own mortality , much less good judgement.
