You are naive. You really think that a confirmed law breaker only breaks one law. These leeched are here to TAKE what they can in the way of benefits, health care, and anything else that is not locked up tight.
THIS IS A THIRD WORLD CRIME, in a city invaded by a THIRD WORLD LEECHES.
Are you a plant from DU?

I wonder if anyone knows what a residential street light, including installation in a residential area costs the tax payers.

I’d be willing to bet with installation costs, they run about $10,000 each. Not to mention the energy of running them 24/7 365 nights per year.

Thing is, most illegals aren't going to steal stuff because they have a lot to lose if the are caught and deported.

I agree with the other poster. I can tell you for a fact, most illegals in the LA County jail are in there for theft related offenses. And they could care less if there are street lights or not. Most of the thefts are occurring in broad day light.

This is silly. Any third world thug knows that stealing manhole covers is more efficient and profitable.

Did you see the headline the other day about 50% of the traffic accidents in LA are hit-and-run and they get away.

I missed that. But I know for a fact, anytime there is a hit and run, the chances of illegal aliens being involved great.

I tell people, anytime your involved in a collision, the first thing to do, if possible, is write down the vehicle plate numbers, as many times they'll stop momentarily, and then take off.

“In addition, anyone notice that all these major cities are lit up like Vegas, yet they have the most crime? In fact, the bigger the city, the more light, the more crime. Get rid of the street lights.”

lol... You think street lights cause crime? Thanks for the laugh.

>>(Welcome to 3rd World) <<

This also has a lot to do with the plunge of the dollar against almost all metals and currencies.

You think street lights cause crime?

I didn't say that. Reading down thread, this is what I said.

I'd bet the cost of street lighting in residential neighborhoods in this country has cost 25 plus billion in tax dollars. Yet all the cars have headlights, and 99 percent of people have porch lights or yard lights. Your being swindled by the government.

Ya see, I don't rely on government to protect me or provide my light. I've installed motion detector lights at my property. They don't burn 365 nights a year like government street lights.

My property lights only come on when motion is detected, and they work *real* good.

The fact is, lousy areas are lit up bright, and these areas have high crime, so I can only surmise that the lighting did little to reduce crime. (Most thefts occur in broad day light).

And again, to be clear, I think street lights are legitimate along highways and commercial areas, but it's my opinion that they are a huge waste of money AND energy in residential areas.

Example: Just like what occurred with Mr. Horn in Texas recently, when he shot and killed the two burgurlars. It was in broad day light, and 1:00 P.m. in the afternoon.

This is quite typical for residential thefts and burglaries. Day time when *you're* working away from home.

Residential street lights are a waste of tax money and energy.

Yeah, but look at all the money they are saving in electricity.

Heck, where I used to live I removed the bottom cover and unplugged the street light so it quit shining in my window. Makes the yard lights look cooler too.

lol, I did something similar. I told the power company to come out and put a shield on the light so it would stop the glare into my windows and yard. The street lighting was an ugly hue, basking everything in an ugly off color.

They did it, and the shield directs the light down instead of onto my property. My neighbor down the street did the same exact thing after he saw what I did.

Sickening.

Can’t we just start shooting criminals?

OK, here’s a reason for street lights in the suburbs. My husband and I take a 45 minute walk every day, and usually it is after dark. We value each and every street light, and so do the other pedestrians. Our sidewalks are uneven (tree roots) and our streets are rife with potholes that are impossible to see in the dark. House lights do not do the job that street lights do.

Returning to the original subject of this thread: what part of the country has the highest theft rate of copper and the most illegal aliens? Why, it’s southern California. This is the Reconquista folks, and nothing will be done about it because it would be politically incorrect to deny illegal aliens their right to wreck our country.

Got news for ya. The theft of copper is wide spread, hundreds of tons of it was taken during Katrina. From Arizona, to Tennessee to Massachusetts, theft of copper is really an epidemic. Read up, there are many articles on the web.

Much like illegal aliens, this is not isolated to the southwest, or California. It's wide spread, even in Massachusetts, where you live. As a matter of fact, the crooks are killing themselves in Massachusetts to steal the copper.

November 2007

http://www.homerelectric.com/KWC/Nov07%20KWC.pdf

In March, at least three deaths – two in Massachusetts and one in Hawaii – resulted from electrocutions or falls when thieves attempted to obtain copper wire from energized power lines.

I thought Jerry Lewis had already cornered the copper market with his telethons.

They do use aluminum wire for the larger gage stuff, some of it is actually a steel center wrapped with aluminum, the steel is ignored do to skin effect, that is the electrons are on the outer aluminum conductor, the steel center is for strength.
