Duane "Dog" Chapman's tape-recorded tirade has cost him his TV show.
"Dog the Bounty Hunter" has been pulled off the air by A&E, the cable network announced Friday. The network stopped short of saying the show was canceled, apparently leaving open the possibility of a return with new episodes or reruns.
"In evaluating the circumstances of the last few days, A&E has decided to take Dog The Bounty Hunter off the network's schedule for the foreseeable future," A&E said in prepared statement. "We hope that Mr. Chapman continues the healing process that he has begun."
The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that Yum Brands, which advertised Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut on "Dog the Bounty Hunter," had pulled all of its ads, calling Chapman's comments "despicable."
Production of the Hawaii-based reality show was suspended earlier this week after it was reported that Chapman made repeated racial slurs in a tape-recorded phone conversation with his son, Tucker.
"Dog the Bounty Hunter" went on the air in 2004 and was one of A&E's highest rated shows, averaging 1.2 million viewers in primetime.
Chapman, who owns Da Kine Bail Bonds in downtown Honolulu, has apologized for repeatedly using a racial slur to refer to his son's girlfriend, who is African American.
The Associated Press reported on Friday that Tucker Chapman taped the phone call with his father, and sold it to the National Enquirer, which posted the tape on its Web site on Wednesday.
Apparently not.
See how long it takes for this story to go national....then how long it takes to toss this POS off of television....(crickets)
Haven't bought any Spam lately, have you?
Real meat is much cheaper.
Local example: Spam, $2.49 for 12 ounces ($3.32/lb; whole, trimmed USDA Choice brisket OR boneless 'country style' pork ribs, $1.99/lb.
If he opts for the Spam, it will really go fast.
"If you want it to stay private, think it but don't say it"; "Family matters stay in the family"; and, "Don't air your dirty laundry in public" all seem to be sadly lacking here.
I went through something similar (but I'm talking about myself here), and I'm thankful that we never got married... Still, it cost me about 15 grand. It's been over for a year, but it's not completely done: Both of our names are still on the title of her car, and I've desperately been trying to get mine off of it. My biggest fear is that she's going to be driving without insurance and get into an accident, and I'll lose everything. The problem is that she's now in a different state, and I've even hired a lawyer to try to help, but she won't sign the title - I'm trying to give her this car, free and clear! I'm trying to figure out if I can sell the car to a repo-company, and have them just take it.
I once wanted to marry this evil spawn of satan... Boy am I glad I didn't!

“There are no perfect people or races.
My next door neighbor is black and he says the racism and stuff in his own community that is vocalized against white is abundant and vile to extremes.”
I dated a (conservative) black woman. I’ve heard it first hand. I’ve also had very deep conversations about the issue, both sides, and I know that there are many in the black community who despise what the rap and thug culture are making them look like. They know the problems in their community are of their own making, and pointing the finger at people like Dog, or Michael Richards, or Imus when they use a word is just to deflect attention from the real problems.
Yes, it’s a distasteful word. Yes, he’s a jerk for using it, and he should have known better, since he willingly put himeself and his family in the public eye. He won’t go hungry, the money he’s made from DVDs, merchandise, and the TV show will probably keep him in hair extensions for a long, long time. His bail bond company will continue (i believe he has more than one shop).
But i really feel uncomfortable with this idea that if a white person slips and uses a word like that, that they should be punished. Our constitution protects free speech, even if it’s distasteful, and nobody was guaranteed a life free of being offended, despuite the attempts by liberals to change that.
He should have just said “I’m sorry, I’m a jerk”, and be done with it. But now, this will play out to it’s usual end - Sharpton and the usual suspects have already attached themselves, and it’ll be a bunch of hooey as usual.
For all of the strong feelings on this subject, that Dog is a jerk and all...how come nobody ever wonders why the black community is incapable or never expected to be forgiving? Why can’t any of the people attacking Dog say, “You know, it’s a bad word, he should’nt use it, but I’ll forgive him if he promises to stop using it”.
I know why...and it’s got everything to do with Reverend Al’s bank account.
The Reverend has been living off of blood money for a long time, and some day, i hope, i realize how much he sold out the community he proclaims to represent. For a Christian, he seems to not put much faith in forgiveness.
Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human facefor ever. The heretic, the enemy of society, will always be there, so that he can be defeated and humiliated over again. The more the Party is powerful, the less it will be tolerant: the weaker the opposition, the tighter the despotism. Goldstein and his heresies will live for ever. Always we shall have the heretic here at our mercy, screaming with pain, broken up, contemptibleand in the end utterly penitent, saved from himself, crawling to our feet of his own accord.
---above passage from 1984.
No, it's not as cheap as the cheapest meat.
Spam is real meat though.
It is made from mostly pork shoulder and ham.
It's not tough like brisket or as fatty as country style ribs.
Then you didn’t listen to the tape. Dog says it’s not because she’s black it is because she does not trust her, that his son runs his mouth to her and that she is going to the enquireer on him.
He gives his son a choice, break up with her or leave the family business.
Yea he uses the N word, he was pissed and said a word that isn’t as of yet illegal.
His own minister, who married him, who happens to be black, says Dog is not and has never been a racist. It’s simply because people he’s with use it. He was in prison. People on the streets he deals with us it. People in the hip-hop culture come up to him and use it.
Funny how the people closest to him, both black and white all say he’s not a racist but to him the “N” word is nothing more then another cuss word.
To me, he’s nothing but white trash, so you aren’t alone, Blondie.
Say something with sense.
I should have added-white trash that was in the right place at the right time in the right era, and became a ‘celebrity’. I think his 15 minutes may be up, though.
Sure, see post 293 LOL
It depends upon where you live and how close to the bone you can stand to live. But you’ve got it about right for the average lifestyle. This kid made a really lousy deal.
If you say something to your son about this I MIGHT ruin your career BTW. War over words will backfire my new FRiend.
Well said. I agree. I like Dog. He shouldn't have said what he said but I don't expect him to be a choir boy. I've heard that and worse in the emergency services system.
This PC speech monitoring has gone too far.
I'm not saying that makes it right, because it's still an offensive word, that I don't think should be used at all, but I can see that not everyone uses it in the same context.
What's ironic is he specifically predicted people would misunderstand, and that's exactly what you and a few others have done.
