NASA cannot do anything that doesn’t take 10 years and $10 billion minimum to accomplish.

DARPA should run screaming from any NASA involvement with this program.

Just look at what NASA did to the DARPA DC-X.

I’m curious. Let’s say there’s a “hot spot” somewhere near Russia but not “in it.” We send a rocket ship hurtling toward that place with the idea of dispensing a robo-plane to give us a “looksee” at what’s happening. The Russians (or Chineese, or who ever is dirty this time) sees our rocket on their radar. Hmm...

Call me sceptical but I don’t really see any advantage to this program. The SR-71 could get to a hotspot about as fast and give a “look-see” from 100,000 feet if needed and its retired. Looks like money thrown away to me.
