3) HOMEGROWN TERRORISM- The term `homegrown terrorism' means the use, planned use, or threatened use, of force or violence by a group or individual born, raised, or based and operating primarily within the United States or any possession of the United States to intimidate or coerce the United States government, the civilian population of the United States, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.

Too broadly worded.

This is going to be used against Christians and other law-abiding Americans. Especially if Rudy or Hillary is in the WH.

I’m glad other people are waking up to what is going on. I just hope you all continue to dig deeper.

This would make Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and George Washington - all our original patriots - terrorists!

Those bozos in Congress have stepped-in-it this time.

House passes H.R. 1955: Violent Radicalization and Homegrown
Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007

OK, call me paranoid.

I suspect the subtitle of this bill (passed by a Democratic majority
House) actually is:

The Conservative Talk-Radio, Legal Gunownership Advocates,
Conservative Christians and Rational Patriot Censorship,
Detention and Punishment Act

Actually, I do hope I'm wrong.

And this isn't just a stealth version of The Fairness Doctrine.

I'm a bit bummed to see Dave Reichert's name attached to it.
I sure hope he's REALLY considered the "unintended consquences"
aspect of this legislation.

Had it dealt specifically and exclusively with muslim terrorism then perhaps many here would support it. Now bureaucrats can define and implement this law against anyone’s speech they personally find repugnant. This law is a sword in their hands and offers no shield to those who engage in free speech which was otherwise subject to the “imminent lawless violence” test. Be afraid. Be very afraid. Stalin lives...

`(7) Individuals prone to violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence span all races, ethnicities, and religious beliefs, and individuals should not be targeted based solely on race, ethnicity, or religion.

Well that narrows the suspect group down to just EVERY PERSON IN THE US AND ITS TERRITORIES.
