Here's something to compare Thompson's money to: the 1st Q numbers of his three main rivals: Romney raised 21.2M; Giuliani raised 16.6M; McCain raised 13M.
By comparison, Freds $7-8M (or even $10 million) this quarter is not great. NBCs Kelly ODonnell reports that sources say Fred Thompson will report in excess of $8 million, but would not say if the campaign breaks the $10 million mark in his campaign's first FEC filing. More specifically, advisors say Thompson has 70,000 individual donors, which they claim describe as "a huge signal of grassroots support." About one quarter of the money raised comes from online donors. And since his formal announcement day in early September, advisors claim they have raised 200-thousand dollars a day.
Advisors acknowledge the third-quarter filing may be "a little less than" Giuliani, but they claim their fundraising makes Thompson "competitive." They claim to "feel good." Thompson's campaign will complete its filing within a few days and does not plan to be the first campaign to announce.
Richardson announced he raised another $5.2 million in the third quarter. Richardson spokesman Tom Reynolds tells the AP, "This figure obviously separates us from the second-tier candidates and makes clear this is a four-person race." He may eschew public financing.
Edwards' camp, when they announced their decision to take matching funds, indicated they would raise at least $7 million. NBC/NJs Tricia Miller reports Edwards senior adviser Joe Trippi sent one last plea to fulfill the campaign's goal of raising $1 million online by the end of the quarter Sunday night. "Ten days ago, we put our online campaign in your hands. We did the math and told you that to stay on target we needed to raise $1 million online by midnight tonight," he wrote. "None of us knew if that was possible."

How long is Fred in the race compared to the RINOs?
More propaganda from the MSNBC.
Oh you wacky Mittophiles.
Spin spaa spin spin...spin spaa spin spin spin.
Considering the fact that Q3 is July-August-September, but Fred has only been a candidate since early Sept, how are they counting the money he has raised? If it’s $8 million in just the four weeks he’s actually been a candidate, I’d say that’s pretty good!
This morning 70,000 donors and 8 million was excellent compared to the fewer donors of the other candidates.
by this afternoon the same numbers were “DOOOOOOMMMMMEEEEED!!!!!!”
An (inherently distrustful) MSNBC article about Thompson......yeah, THAT’LL inspire me to vote for Romney!
2nd Quarter Fundraising:
Romney: $21.2M over 92 days = $230K/day
Guiliani: $16.6M over 92 days = $180K/day
McCain: $13M over 92 days = $141K/day
Thompson: $8M over 26 days = $307K/day
Despite officially entering the race less than one month ago, Fred Thompson will soon be announcing fundraising totals in the area of $8 million. Here are some additional facts worth noting:
More than 60% of that $8 million came in after Fred Thompsons September announcement (~ $5 Mil in 3 weeks). Our quarter was mostly the month of September.
Donation levels post-announcement = approximately $200,000/day.
Donor base = about 70,000. That is a first quarter donor base larger than that of any other Republican candidate.
All he could come up with is 8 million? This should have been the easiest time for Fred to rack up the $$$, all the low hanging fruit.
It looks to me like Fred has peaked, or is close to it. His lazy campaign and low fund raising results won’t sustain his current numbers which are nothing more than name recognition and hype.
There is going to be a lot of painful wailing and angry gnashing of teeth among Fredheads when they get tired to trying to prop up this empty suit. He reads lines well, but lets see him in battle. I wonder if he is going to bail on the next debate too, someone should ask him.
“Romney: $21.2M over 92 days = $230K/day”
6.5 Mil was a self loan so he only collected 14.7M or $160,000/day
I think once folk have seen him in debates with other fellow republicans his stock will go up!

...move on slimy troll. You’ll get your income distribution soon enough. In the meantime, stop polishing your knob in your Mom’s basement and get upstairs for dinner. She made you hamburger helper again.
First the liberals complained to the FEC because Fred raised too much money before becoming a formal candidate, now they are running around screaming he is not raising enough money. $8 million in about 3 weeks is pretty darn good.
Why do Mittwits posts resemble those of liberal Democrats? You can see the same nonsense posted at DU.
