Kid’s also had recess in the 50’s. Something that public schools don’t want to take the time for now.
We homeschooled and when my very squirmy, active son was having a bad day, I would have him run a few laps around our 1/3 acre property. Surprisingly, he became quite teachable.
I wouldn’t say that. There’s too much recess, and sex ed, and art and gym, and not enough serious intellectual study.
Parents that don’t want to discipline their children and thus the kids are out of control is one of the reasons children are being medicated. Physicians too quickly handing out medication is another reason. Parents too involved in their yuppie lifestyles is another reason coupled with those parents that are on their second, third, and fourth marriage.
The Liberal public school system, that is broken, resorts to reporting children with discipline problems that they can’t control. Another dirty little secret is that schools receive “federal tax dollars” for “special needs” children. The more of your children that can be labeled “special needs” the better.
Follow the money.
If I remember correctly, when I was in grade school, we had two recesses. One was around mid morning and the other was after lunch. Now they are lucky to get one. I bought the documentary “Raising Cain”. It was about teaching boys with ADHD. It was very interesting. Shows how other countries deal with active children.
