This alleged quote is nothing more than revisionist propaganda. Forrest did not speak this way. What he actually said was "get there first with the most men".

True. But making Forrest sound illiterate serves the stereotype that the most cultured and learned part of the United States, and by the way the authors and wordsmiths of the Declaration and the Constitution, could no longer speak in complete sentences after the secession.

I speak as a Texan. Obviously I had someone else write this post for me.
