French wine is great, but after they dissed us in 03, I stopped buying French and went to Australian.

As an Aussie I may be biased but our wines are pretty good. What I'd like to try is some Texan red wines. Any suggestions?

I have tried wines from all over the world and you are correct. The Australian wines I've had so far are very consistent bottle to bottle. I have tried several types, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabs.... I am going to try a Yalumba muscat next week.

I really like Australian red, especially Shiraz. One very affordable table wine is “Yellow Tail.” I cannot recommend any Texas wines. I just don’t know any wines from Texas. My Mom’s family is from South Texas, I will check it out. Of course, there are many good California wines, as well as New York.

I was in San Antonio last November and visited Sister Creek Vineyards in Sisterdale. They make a very nice Pinot Noir. And although not a red as you asked, their Muscat Canelli is to die for (if you like that sort of thing).

Unfortunately, as I’m writing this I’m remembering that they only ship within Texas, so getting it is the problem. : )
