“Well, there were eight Dems who voted against closure. Very interesting.”

I suppose some folks (on both sides) voted against cloture so they wouldn't have to have a record of their vote for or against the bill itself.

Dims have a reason to oppose the bill, if they would get the power-glaze out of their eyes (difficult to do, I know). The bill is disaster for unions and low-income workers in that an influx of slave-wage 3rd world workers will depress all those salaries.

There are a number of lib organizations who are working that angle, and as I am stuck with 2 Dim Senators that’s what I’ve been bugging them about. Please, people... if you need to harass a Dim senator about this bill, put a clothespin on your nose and get some talking points from here: http://www.cis.org/articles/2006/back206.html

Kill this bill — by any means necessary

I lived in Maryland for 8 years, and it was only marginally better.

".....FR will reject more border enforcement bills."

We have border enforcement bills already passed that aren't being implemented - like 10,000 BP agents of which less than 1/2 of 1% have been staffed, like 700 miles of reinforced fencing of which only 1/3 of 1% has been constructed.

If you can't see a pattern, you're blind. Illegals would have gotten their amnesty. Citizens would have gotten screwn - again.

When the government shows at least a half-assed attempt to enforce the laws we have and they're proven not to work, American Patriots may consider entertaining revisions to immigration code. But as long as the government allows repeated undermining of our laws without exacting penalty, without a serious attempt to put and keep those laws in effect, this is indicative of the revolt US Legislators will have to endure.

Heads up, keep calling. Inside info last night via two sites: The Sarge at arms had to go find them because they were drafting like crazy to bring something else up. They want everyone to forget about it then sneak something through. We have to be vigilant. BTW, don’t forget to call and thank those who voted with the people and even those democrats who used their common sense.

That reminds me of the question i’ve asked for a year now, who’s doing the medical checks?

Agreed. But, I think the biggest liar in the Senate is Chuckie Schumer, the man who never met a camera he didn’t love.

The enforcement provisions were written so that they would never happen-no fence, millions of illegals granted amnesty and more pouring over the border every day.

This Amnesty Bill is W’s final sellout to the the conservative base who has supported his liberal Rockefellar establishment agenda over the years. Bush has broken ranks with the Reagan agenda and the conservative basefor the very last time. It is very clear to me the liberal Rockefellar wing of this is now controlling the Party. It is time to take it back in 2008 with Thompson or maybe even Huckabee. Lou Dobbs hit a home run last night on the Clintoon News Network (CNN) by saying the elites on both sides of aisle were attempting to ram this BS down out throats while the vast majority of the social conservatives oppose amnesty and open borders. He went on to say , this may bode well for bringing the base together with a familar rallying cry.

Worth repeating for the benefit of everyone - a reminder of eight years ago during the discussion of immigration on FR in 1999 & 2000. Many here at FR weren’t supporting Bush on the basis of that single issue... He stated then that he was in favor of an immigration bill and guest worker program very like this one. It was my single greatest reservation about Bush’s nomination, and I finally conceded, “We’ll just have to depend on Congress to keep him in control on this issue”...

...but now that the wonderful “conservatives” wanting to “teach Republicans a lesson” in 2006, that control is lacking. However, he’s done well on nearly every other issue, so I won’t complain too much about his presidency.

"....Thank God....now every Republican who supported this bill needs to be defeated in their next primary......"

Agreed. Do we have an actual list of who supported the bill?

The bill is disaster for unions and low-income workers in that an influx of slave-wage 3rd world workers will depress all those salaries.

So only 8 Democrat senators out of 51 voted to kill this bill and socialists/Democrats get praise from conservatives. What about the rest of the Democrat senators who voted not to kill this bill and for almost certain passage? Why are Democrats above criticizm and can do now wrong? The vast Majority of Democrats voted not to kill this bill. and these communists deserve our scorn.

Only 7 or so Republican Senators, the RINOs voted not to kill this Bill. The REST of REPUBLICAN senators voted to kill this bill. They all deserve our thanks and for us to stop bashing the GOP. Think if you are one of these MANY Republican Senators who did the right thing by voting to kill this bill and all you hear still is relentless bashing of the GOP from conservatives and liberals? That will make anyone give up. I haven't seen any praise for these Republican Senators who stood up to the media,Democrats and Bush and did the right thing by killing this bill. Bashing Republicans is part of most people's DNA now it seems. Bush doesn't = GOP.

The 7 RINOS who voted not to kill this Amnesty bill are not real Republicans but they are just liberal democrat, moles posing as “republicans” who call themselves Republicans. These RINOS voted NOT to kill this Bill. These are the usual suspects like Hagel,Spetre, Lugar, McCain. REPEAT these are NOT Republicans but liberal/communist MOLES. These "republican" RINO moles almost always vote on the liberal side of the issues with the Democrats to provide cover for the Democrats/socialists. With this cover then the liberal media and Michael Weiner (”Michael Savage”) another liberal trojan horse can put the full blame on Republicans for every bad bill and every conservative thing not done.

If you look at the actual VOTES then you wil see that most Republicans actually do the right thing most of the time but all we hear is bashing of the GOP from Weiner and the media. Most Republicans voted on the right side for Tax cuts, to kill this Amnesty bill, and against McCain-FienGold to give just 3 examples. It was only the combined force of the RINOS and Democrats that passed McCain-FienGold. 90% of Democrats voted against tax cuts for McCain-FeinGold and for Amnesty but the media and Weiner blame the GOP. And I can and will post the links to the votes .

Bush has been wrong on several issues but he is an individual and does not speak for every Republican. However he is president so the media and Weiner can use any action by Bush to generalize the whole GOP and the government educated morons buy this without looking at the actual votes. The government educated morons don’t have any clue how the government works, how we are a nation of laws not a dictatorship , that 84% of spending if you include military spending is mandated by law,and that is is hard to pass legislation even if you have a majority as this Amnesty bill showed. Liberals are winning the propaganda war. And liberal Trojan Horses like Weiner("Michael Savage") who called for the Resignation of the Republican leader of the house Dennis Hastert during the height of the election and the liberal media generated Foley “scandal” are leading this war against freedom. as a result democrats won control of congress and Amnesty got closer to passing.

Vote on this Amnesty that would have turned the U.S. into a socialist Venezuela or Cuba:
