Immigration authorities said Wednesday the man arrested on suspicion of causing the drunken head-on crash on Sunset Blvd. that killed movie director Robert Clark was in the United States illegally.
Clark's 22-year-old son Ariel was also killed in the wreck.
Hector Velazquez-Nava was booked on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and was being held on $100,000 bail.
Police said he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and was driving without a driver license.
Velazquez-Nava is a Mexican national with no record of previous deportations, said Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Virginia Kice.

Yup, I guess with that manslaughter charge, he’ll be here for a while.
Deport the torso. Embalm the head.
There is a headliner. NOT
“Why cant the People of the U.S. sue the Federal Government for violating the constitution?”
When are we going to stand up and say, “I’m mad as hell and I am not going to take it any more!”
We need to rise up as one and take our government back.
Gee. What a surprise.
Every time I hear about a drunk driving incident, it’s a !@#$! illegal alien! I’m so sick of this. Build the wall! Deport the scum.
If your for real, please let me know..
Well, hot damn, if that illegal had been given a drivers’ license it would have made all the difference.
Terribly sad that this needed to be said. And on this forum!
That will do just fine,,
Can you sue the federal government?
I agree there is good cause to do it, but CAN you do it?
Any legal experts here care to weigh in on this?
Seriously- the only reason New York (or anyplace else) ever got cleaned up was because one too many lawyers, judges, or politicians were mugged and murdered in the street.
You are right. If the driver and son who were killed had been some ‘George Clooney’ level celebrity there would be a ‘live aid’ concert already underway to ‘raise awareness to’ the problem’. Since it was relatively a ‘nobody’, well, it’s of no consequence.
But instead we will house him in an American Prison at a 50K price tag a year for many years to come.
PLUS the cost of food stamps for feeding his family, subsidies for section 8 housing, and of course a tuition free education for his kids. The price tag will be high.
They don't.
This illegal alien lawbreaking scum is a perfect candidate for a "compassionate conservatism" Bush pardon and/or amnesty and a "path to citizenship".
>One of the greatest movies of all time...<
One of my favorites, too. It takes me back to my childhood and being all bundled up against the winter cold, and those awful furnaces! I am so sorry to hear about the deaths of Mr. Clark and his son. My heart goes out to his family. I offer him a posthumous thank you for reviving so many memories, and for providing so many laughs.
Okay, bad news for all involved, but did you see the part about what time it happened?
Like mom always said, nothing good ever happens when your out after midnight.
2:30 in the friggin morning?
Have they checked the BAL of the director and his dead son?
Maybe a little shared responsibility here? Avoid hazardous situations, live longer........
Just Damn!
Well, maybe someone will notice this one. Hell of a price to pay, if you ask me.
He couldn't care less, even if he was listening. He knows that the families of the "elites", including his, will never be touched by illegal aliens in any way.
He's made it clear that he wants America to merge with Mexico and Canada. We don't even get to vote on it, and neither do our so-called Senators and Representatives. It was a deal made by three people - Bush, Fox and Martin, and the rest of us can go to hell as far as he's concerned.
Guess he wasn't all bad
No, he just didn't get caught and deported. Remember, most Mexicans don't get deported until they commit another crime and get caught, and often not then.
And worse yet he should have NEVER been here.
