1,000 words (Pres. Bush/Sen. Byrd - what decency looks like)
DailyMailBlog ^ | 3-30-07

One of the most touching photos in years taken by an AP photographer moved across the wires last night (Thursday) and few newspapers published it. The Daily Mail did. It showed President Bush helping Robert Byrd walk.

The occasion was the overdue awarding of a congressional Gold Medal to the Tuskegee airmen who served in World War II. There is irony there.

But there also is compassion from President Bush. This may be why the photo received so little play in the newspapers today.

It looks to me like Byrd is looking at Bush with an evil eye. But whenever I'm a little disappointed with W, I remember what a decent man he is.

Well said!

I think that look is: respectful astonishment.

He is a bigger man than all of us combined. I wonder how can he do it, how can he stay such a gentleman when dealing with these hate filled traitors who are living every second of their lives to destroy him and destroy the country.

PS: If Byrd would have bend over a little more, he would have stumbled on his own tie ( I know that this is a mean thing to say but I am no gentleman :) )

Thank you for posting this photo. Your comment reflects some of the main characteristics I love about President Bush. I think you'll like this article: "The Humility Of George W. Bush" by Doug Patton.

His unflappable decency, at all times, is something I admire him for.

agree they wouldn't ever publish any photo of Bush showing just how decent our president is as a person... but also, they don't want to show how bad off Byrd is. Not that the years don't add up, but last year Byrd lost his wife (of something like 68 years)and I think the loss took a really strong toll.

In a similar article there was a photo of hitlery clintook that really showed her as she is. I was too much in a rush to note the link.

Could someone please let me know where I can find it again.

saw it twice - once with a photoshop of her orange faced and a long tongue reaching out.

Would like both, please, if someone would be so kind.

Thanks.

How can he do it? It is just an incredible character he has when he remains such a gentlemen dealing with these evil traitors. I know that this is frustrating for many of us, we want him to be angry at them and he does it when it matters like now when he is totally adamant about vetoing the treasonous bill of surrender, but he still does it without being mean or nasty.

I can say that President Bush is a better man than I am, otherwise the "Grand Kleagle" would be face down on the floor.
