Senate backs troop withdrawal from Iraq

The U.S. Senate on Tuesday endorsed a March 31, 2008, target date for withdrawing American combat troops from Iraq, moving Congress a step closer to a showdown with President George W. Bush over the war.

By a vote of 50-48, the Senate defeated an amendment that would have stricken the withdrawal language from a $121.6 billion bill that mostly would fund the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. A final vote on the bill is expected later this week.

Note to self; proof-read the votes.

Acutally, it was Cut-and-Hagel. Smith voted for the previous retreat-and-defeat bill.

I don't blame conservatives. I blame those folks who took absolute leave of their senses and completely underestimated the destructive mischief the moonbat-backed Democrats would wreak if they got the chance.

What in God's name were they thinking, handing the reins of government over to the Socialists in a time of war? Sheer idiocy.

Why are you getting so upset about that? I am another freeper that blames those that stayed home. Elections have consequences. By taking such offense, you act like you stayed home.

At least now Bush can frame the entire thing when he vetos it. Really cement in place these traitors are invested in defeat and id this right when many positive reports from the increase in troops is working.

He can truly show that the democrats stand on the wrong side of history, AGAIN. Just as they did against Reagan.

The US Senate the greatest threat to the safety and security of the United States and a great supporter of Islamic terrorist.

Repeal the 17th Amendment so we can get some real Americans in the US Senate before it is too late. But it may already be too late as they jockey for their place with the Islamic government.

Any way this can get sent to GW tonight for Veto because I am sure he will promptly do so and belittle the donks, the party of jackasses, again.

If he's like his daddy don't count on it. Remember, "Read my lips. NO NEW TAXES" to which he promptly signed one of the largest tax increases in American history. His reason? America didn't give him a Republican congress.

Let's hope Jr. is more honorable than his daddy but the way I see it, he hasn't vetoed the measure until the ink has dried.

Please forgive my pessimism but I've learned to observe and remember the past.
