The missile, named Babur or Hatf VII, has a range of 700 kilometers (434 miles) and is capable of carrying various types of warheads, including nuclear, the military-run Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate said.

Not good at all.

Don't they already have the capability to hit all of India, though?

Probably because they've helped Pakistan with the nuclear and ballistic missile program, so why not with Cruise missiles! All of their "contain India" strategy.

We need this like a hole on the head-on top of the Russians' recent belligerence over our helping the Czechs and the Poles with their missile defense. I'm not saying they're connected, BUT...

Makes perfect sense to have such a weapon,if you are a Paki. The specs of this weapon put this roughly in the class of the Tomahawk, not larger weapons. You can modify the torpedo tubes of their Agosta 90Bs or surface ships to fire those & upto 4 such weapons can be carried on those subs.It completes a poor man's nuclear triad!!

Their ballistic missiles are too cumbersome for launch from anything other than land platforms, reducing range & increasing it's vulnerability.
