In a shocking development, 'Fox and Friends' cutie Kiran Chetry has been canned. Apparently the William Morris Agency tried to play hardball with the Fox News Channel, and it struck out big time - with its client Chetry, getting axed from the network.
William Morris super-dooper-agent John Ferriter told the network to dump the unfunny and very wooden Gretchen Carlson, co-anchor of the higher-rated weekday "Fox & Friends," so that Chetry could slide into the slot.
Ferriter, who'd recently started representing Chetry, had his backstabbing request backfire on Thursday, when Fox execs fired off an irate letter to Ferriter saying they were terminating their contract with Chetry for the treachery............"

Exactly, I don't know what the agent was thinking. If the deal went down and the details got out morale would crash. It would be stupid to tolerate a deal like that, Fox could be blackmailed about the details.
"Plain"? What's wrong with Ms. Browne's fresh-faced, girl-next-door appeal?
I personally do not find the glitzy, Las Vegas beauty-pageant look to be particularly attractive. Perhaps on this point we differ.
If you're right (and I agree with you), then that would argue for getting as much $$ as possible while you're still young and cute. I think Kiran's biggest problem was that she's a brunette. I'll miss her - never trusted blondes anyway.
She's okay. Her hair was always a little stringy, and she had a tendency to stealglances at the camera when other people were talking. Brian does the same thing.
There is no reason for Carlson to have gotten the Fox and Friends slot over Kiran.
..."Kiran Chetry is really cute.
Like a mix of Sandra Bullock and Jacinda Barrett"...
Hey, Hey, Hey..Kids..What are the vicious comments against Gretchen about anyway. (Not from Muentzer2005, but from others). Kiran was indeed cute and young, but if you watched her a lot and I did, her liberal leanings were unmistakable and at times, her "take" on issues were clearly inexperienced. I liked her but I also like Gretchen, who is for sure, more mature. Are we, like Hollywood, basing too much of our loyalty on looks, youth, and outrageous self-confidence? And, did Kiran's agent overestimate what those benefits were worth to FOX? I would say, "Yes." I wish Kiran well in her career..She is involved in a very competitive field..So many beautiful and capable women..Also, was Gretchen not Miss America? If so, a lot of other people must think she is quite a "cut" above the average woman.
Kiran MADE the Fox weekend show. I haven't watched it since she left for more than five minutes or so. She added professionalism and good humor to the show. I would guess you will see her again somewhere due to her appeal. Especially to old "geezers" like me.
..."Kiran Chetry may be a nice gal, but she ain't worthy of shining Gretchen Carlson's shoes.
Anyone who can't understand that statement needs a pair of glasses. Carlson will always be the ONLY Miss America that I remember. Don't know a single other one. But I remember her.
I guess I'd better switch on Fox in the AM"...
I'm with you, Al..I get the feeling that most of this discussion is being carried on by the "20-30 something Freeper." Old Fogies are more likely to trust age and experience than bright-eyed beauties who have not lived long enough yet to really know what they believe. Life's lessons change all of us as we mature, therefore, what we value in other people changes, too. Baby Boomers, like me, are retired and watching a lot more television and I've a feeling they will gravitate more toward the "Gretchen's" than the "Kiran's."
oops
What ever happened to Julien Phillips on Fox & Friends Weekend? Is he gone. Here in Japan we lost Fox satelite and we only can get CNN. I wouldn't take CNN even if it's free....
i still can't get over kiran being gone now...gretchen is okay, but she always looks like she's frowning and everyone's right about chemistry.
i think there was a slide in fox ratings and that is what precipitated all this. personally i think it's a mistake. BRING KIRAN BACK!!!
I agree. However, last weekend FOX put Julie Bandaras in the spot and she was excellent. I hope they put her there permanently.
I've seen her on CNN, afternoons.
When Gretchen first arrived on the show she was making a comparison between Kerry and Dubya. She said, (paraphrasing here):
While Kerry was in the military, George Bush wasn't.
GAG!
Julie Bandaras is too professional for the weekend clown edition of Fox & Friends.
Well I'll miss Kiran. I don't watch CNN much so she's likely gone from my viewing schedule.
I'm not really a big FOX News Gretchen fan when you think of her as Kiran's replacement, although I do remember her Miss America run - and being a native Minnesotan I realized the significance of her victory in that pageant (she blew away her dunder-head competition in the talent event as a concert violinist).
I am happy to see her become a mild success post-pageant as a FOX News personality. She has paid her dues. She's good people and a talented, caring member of her community.
Hopefully Kiran can sweet talk a little sense into those liberal idiots at CNN. I'll miss her, but I can understand FOX looking at Gretchen & her resume and thinking 'we really need to give this woman a shot'.
My gosh, that's amazing. Chetry was nothing more than a left-leaning bimbo who demonstrated very little knowledge in anything. And then her agent had the nerve to try to knock somebody else off? This is real schedenfraude.
I gave Gretchen the benefit of the doubt and watched it for a week. I no longer tune in. I miss Steve and Brian, but I can't stand little former Miss USA or whatever she was.
Kieran in the slot would've been just fine, and I'm sorry her agent screwed things up for her.
