Teaching Young Turks Old Tricks

Finally, an item in Reuters’ "Oddly Enough" category that truly is odd: It seems that the German government is training its Turkish citizens, the majority of whom are unskilled school dropouts, to make döner kebab:

Clad in white overcoats and plastic gloves and caps, the students attend classes twice a week. They learn to cut meat properly, calculate how much meat to put on a skewer and how to avoid the spread of germs.

Döner kebab now rivals sausages as the most popular fast food in Germany. Reuters reports that tens of thousands of people throughout Germany work in kebab shops to supply the demand.

All well and good. But teaching Turks to use skewers is a coals-to-Newcastle sorta thing – and a waste of tax money. Considering that the bayonet was the preferred method (warning: graphic images) Ottoman Turkish soldiers used to kill helpless Armenian women and children during the forced march through the Syrian desert to Aleppo (not to waste bullets on them), The Stiletto thinks Turks would instinctively know how to plunge long, sharp objects into flesh.

I don't think the father's children are responsible for the father's deeds.

Me either. Even though the Ottoman Empire as an example of Islamic imperialism is not brought up enough, this article is over the top.

It's not a completely stupid idea the Germans have. Add what they're learning as far as restaurant kitchen skills and maybe add a night school degree in accounting and or business management, stir in hard work and you have an independent, self sufficient capitalist - in a nation where the natives lost their energy and initiative a long time ago.

If you had lost family in the Genocide, you're opinion would be different - especially if the mass murderers never acknowledged their crime against humanity.
