EXACTLY. While our 6 year olds are learning about sharing, diversity, and otherwise feeling good about who they are, our 12 year olds are lucky if they can multiply two-two digit numbers and read and comprehend the instructions on a box of macaroni and cheese.
Forget about writing. It's keyboarding now. I'm not sure they even teach cursive anymore.
Considering that they need 6 teachers to teach 1st grade here, I'm not sure that they know how...
