BAGHDAD, Iraq - Insurgents launched an attack on a U.S. combat post on Monday, sending in a suicide bomber and clashing with American troops, the military and residents said. Two U.S. soldiers were killed and 17 wounded, the military said.

The assault began with a suicide bomber exploding a vehicle outside the base north of Baghdad, said the military statement. It gave no further details beyond the number of dead and wounded. This attack reads like a replay of the start of the TET Offensice in Vietnam where the Viet Cong launched suicide attacks against US bases all over South Vietnam at the same time.

"The latest attacks were a sobering reminder of the huge challenges confronting any effort to rattle the well-armed and well-hidden insurgents."

The latest attacks are yet another reminder that the Iraqi people have to step up now, and fight back. They know what is happening and this is their chance much more than anyone else's. BTW, who in the hell is Bush-ra Jew-hi?

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Insurgents launched a brazen coordinated attack on a U.S. combat post Monday, sending in a suicide bomber and clashing with American troops. Two U.S. soldiers were killed and 17 wounded, the military said.

The assault began with a suicide bomber exploding a vehicle outside the base north of Baghdad, said the military statement. It gave no further details beyond the number of dead and wounded.

Residents said U.S. forces fought with militants after the suicide bomber tried to break through barriers around the base near Tarmiyah, about 30 miles north of Baghdad. For hours, helicopters were seen landing at the base and leaving.

Basically, I mean that if AP/Reuters/AFP/MSM told me my own name, I wouldn't believe them. Every time I see one of these bylines, I get a mental image of the wedding dress mannequin amid the rubble in bombed out Beirut. That pristine white dress that survived in spotless condition...

They lie. They take the facts and twist them into propaganda. I've come to rely on Sandrat's posts from our military for war news.

If you feel that way about the news services you listed, and the AP reporter, why do you assume the attack even took place? I think your comment/question about BUSHRA JUHI borders on bigotry.

Didn't bother with the link, huh? OK.

>>>At the current level of controversy, it might be prudent for these 17 Associated Press reporters, AP international editor John Daniszewski, and AP Executive Editor Kathleen Carroll to each go on the record and establish the details, dates and locations of their relationship with alleged Iraqi Police Captain Jamil Hussein that they have so vigorously defended.<<<

Do you think that the American male habit of making up salacious names is particular only to them? I don't.
One of my sisters used to have a great time telling guys that her name was Georgia Peaches. Many of her suitors didn't think twice about it, but that was her litmus test when deciding if a man was sharp enough to be her dinner companion.

It's a little early on a Monday morning to start with the bigotry stuff, don't you agree? Get back to me tomorrow afternoon and let me know if you still think I should apologize to Bush-ra and Jalil.

Sunni loyalists want former dictator back in power and U.S. troops gone

By Anita Powell, Stars and Stripes
Mideast edition, Monday, September 25, 2006

Anita Powell / S&S
Many residents of Tarmiyah, Iraq, say they would be happy to see Saddam Hussein return to power. However, they were willing to do business with Capt. Casey Connors, who bought sweets during a recent visit.

TARMIYAH, Iraq — The Saddam Hussein Fan Club is alive and well — at least it seems to be in this dusty Sunni town north of Baghdad.

The U.S.-led teams have faced limited direct defiance as they set up checkpoints and comb neighborhoods. But that could change as they move into more volatile sections. The next could be Sadr City, a stronghold of the Mahdi Army militia loyal to radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr.

U.S. soldiers pressed closer to Sadr City and the reception changed noticeably. In previous days, Shiite families opened their doors to welcome the troops — feeling that the American presence would be a buffer against feared attacks from Sunni militia.

On Sunday, in areas closer to Sadr City, parents slapped away the candy and lollipops given by American soldiers.
