WASHINGTON — The White House fired back Friday at Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer's verbal slap at Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, calling the California Democrat's caustic comments about Rice's family life "outrageous."
Boxer lit into Rice on Thursday with bitter diatribe during a heated line of questioning before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee looking into Iraq policies. At one point, Boxer turned to the broad question of who pays the ultimate price for war. Rice has never married and has no children.
"Who pays the price? I'm not going to pay a personal price. My kids are too old and my grandchild is too young," Boxer said. "You're not going to pay a particular price, as I understand it, with an immediate family. So who pays the price? The American military and their families."

Boxer's last private sector job was a reporter for a "free" tabloid in Marin County called the Pacific Sun, complete with 1-900 sex ads in the back. After that she was elected to the Marin County board of Stupidvisors and she's been feeding at the public trough ever since. She is by no way an intellectual giant.
Love how Box-a-Rox is for so much diversity! The only time they are for diversity is when they can attack America.
Where has she ever paid any price? She has only used the war as a political club and nothing else. How easy is it to be a pacifist?

By that logic, since none in Congress are middle-class, they have no business deciding what is best for our livlihood - health care and taxes included.
Kennedy has no right to an opinion on crime, except maybe how those who murder young women should be treated by the justice system.
The Mom Party officially died. Watch for the Dems to suddendly drop the "M" word from their vocabulary lest they remind everyone of Boxer's remarks.
I'm sure all those single, young women voters we hear so much about have many children and will rush to vote a Mom into office in 2008.

I'd like to say that Boxer, as usual, played to the intelligence level of her constituency.
I bet that check kiting queen's internal polling shows her very comfortable in Washington for as long as she wants the job.
I think you're so very right. Remember, it was Boxer who doled out that breathtakingly racially paternalistic smackdown to Dr. Rice during her confirmation hearings for Sec of State a few years ago when she disrespectfully lectured to her as though she were an learning-disabled nappy-headed inner-city third-grader & accused her of lying? Condi calmly said: "Senator, we can have this discussion in any way that you would like. But I really hope that you will refrain from impugning my integrity. Thank you very much." LOL! Condi can take care of herself - she has a highly developed talent for exposing racist hypocrites like Barbara Boxer for exactly what they are in her graciously articulated & impeccably reasoned responses - above the fray, as you pointed out!.
Well said. I've always advocated that California eliminated all of its personal and corporate income taxes and just switch to a single sales tax of 10%. With all the tourists coming, plus the illegals and criminals would be paying into the system too.
I have never liked working with mostly women and yes I am a woman. Somehow and why I don't know women can be mean and bitchy towards other women. The women I had for bosses were jerks. Just here lately my daughter lost her job because the women she worked with did not accept her from the first day and would not go out of their way to help her learn the job.And these women were less than classy and I am being kind.

How did this stupid woman get elected to anything? I would not even hire her to do inventory in a schlock store. Can the people of California be that crazy? I guess so! What has the woman ever achieved besides promote the deaths of more babies? Is this what the voters of California want?
