The owners had to sell it, their financial condition was grave.

I think restoring this baby would be a project I could really sink my teeth into.

This, Castle Poienari, is what most people think of when they think of Castle Dracula. It was this mountain fortress, astride the Arges River, that was home to the famous Forest of the Impaled, and from which his wife threw herself from fear of the oncoming Turks.

It would involve a large financial stake.

They should sell it, dismantle it and send it over to Los Vegas to keep company with the London Bridge. Dracula would be seen betting at the Casino where, as predicted, the stakes would go up.

"Dominic Habsburg is a member of the castle-owning family and an architect in upstate, New York."

Those Habsburg's sure get around!
Impaling infidels... conquering America... sending fleets after England... installing septic fields...

$78 million dollars is too high for me to stick my neck out for, but I do wonder how many bites they are getting from potential buyers.

This is EXACTLY why I always yearned to be ultra steenking rich. My fleet of Buggati roadsters would look simply smashing parked in front of my Dracula castle. I, of course, would be front and center, wearing my Armani sable jodphurs mounted on my Arabian stallion who'd just won the Kentucky Derby.

Oh the jolly fun we'd have! I in my priceless silken ballgown woven of Empress silk, you in your....tux, ballgown, whatever??? hosting freepers and the crowned heads of ol-l-l-l-l-l-d Europe. YeeeeHaw, my friend!

The crowned heads of old Europe?

Surely you jest!

This is EASTERN Europe.

Having a gala event there is sort of like having a coronation in the Bronx.

True but it would be worth it just to be able to say -
"Wanna come back to my place for a late night bite?"

I thought there were 2 "Dracula's castles". The one in the pictures, and another one, which is in ruins.

There are 2. There is a picture of the one in ruins on the first page of replys. If I had the money to throw away, I would buy both.

I've already called my agent to see if she can dig up a Comparative Market Analysis and if there are any seller disclosures I should know about....

Does it have a guest house? Servant's quarters? Heavy curtains and no mirrors? How far away are the nearest neighbors...I like my privacy.
